Проектная работа "The Ust-Donetskiy region: history and nature"

Native land! Such beautiful words filled with tenderness. Native land is the place where you were born and raised, made your first steps in an exciting and interesting life. I’m a happy girl. I live in a wonderful land – the Ust-Donetskiy area. And today I would like to introduce you my project work – “The Ust-Donetskiy area: its history, nature and culture”.

The Ust-Donetskiy area is one of the youngest in Rostov region, its heart. It appeared at the end of 1965 but not on the empty place but on the lands of its predecessor – Razdorskiy area that was situated on the ancient, rich original history and traditions land of the Nizniy Don.

For a long time along the banks of the Don and the Northern Donetck  - the main rivers of the area -  people settled and lived. The history of the land is truly very rich. Geografical position of the area since ancient times predetermined the birth and development of the Don Cossaks here. Razdorskaya is the first Cossak capital of the Don. Ermak’s activity is connected with it. In the harbor of the villiage Peter the Great started his ships.

How ‘Moscow was not immediately built’, and the Don villages and hamlets were expanded and settled gradually. The current generations can only guess how and by what path the development of the Cossack farms and villages would have gone if not for the wicked 20th century with its wars, revolutions and other social changes in which the inhabitants of our region had to take part.

So, the year of birth of Razdorsky - the predecessor of the Ust-Donetskiy area -  is 1935. The population at that time was 18 thousand people. The main occupation was crop production and livestock breeding.

  The beginning  of the Second World War on June 22, 1941, dramatically changed the course of events in the country with all its cities. For the region came the most difficult period in history. The fascists destroyed vineyards, destroyed many livestock farms, schools, hospitals, houses. Despite all the difficulties caused by the War, victory in the War has become a new force to work on the revival of the Razdorsky district. In the first decade after the War, a great deal was built and made: the farms,  cultural centers, kindergartens, shops, schools. The Razdorsky district actively entered in the  60's without even realizing that two years later it will forever cease to exist, having entered its territory into the newly formed  the Ust-Donetskiy area with an administrative center in the regional village of Ust-Donetsk. During first 25 years of its existence our area confidently developed.  Now we live in a modern, highly developed cultural centre of Rostov region. Our land is very popular with tourists all over the world. Ancient Cossaks’ traditions, picturesque nature, sandy river beaches annually attract people. Hospitable citizens, unique historical and ethnic complex, numerous monuments of archeology and objects of cultural heritage allow us to be proud of our land.

Annually in the August days, fans of the work of the famous Don writer Anatoly Veniaminovich Kalinin gather in Pukhlyakovka. Even during the life of a respected fellow countryman, his birthdays were celebrated with respect and reverence, and since 2008, in memory of the writer, the Kalininsky Summer festival became an official holiday in the Rostov region . This colorful, solemn event demonstrates a growing interest, eternal memory and pride of our area.

Exposition ‘Anatoly Kalinin – person and writer’ – which is situated on the second floor of the traditional Cossack house allows visitors to get acquainted with the work of this famous writer, see his personal belongings and also documents, photos and war relics.

With great interest, domestic and foreign tourists visit the ethnographic complex "Puhlyakovskaya Cossack Homestead" where there is an opportunity to get acquainted with the life and traditions of the Don Cossacks, to participate in the imitation of some of their previous activities.

Ethno-archaeological complex ‘The lost world’ created in an ecologically clean area is also popular with tourists. It is an an interactive museum under the open sky, in which visitors can get acquainted with the history of Donskoy area from antiquity to modern times.

Completing my project, I would like to say that every corner, every village and house of my native land is filled with rich and glorious history, generous nature, talented and hospitable people. The charm of its nature, boundless fields, beauty and glory of our rivers, misty mornings and wonderful sunsets more than once inspired great artists and writers to create their world-known  masterpieces.  All this splendor can not leave indifferent all who live here. And once visited, will make you fall in love and will forever remain in your memory and heart.
