Kolomna ... Attractive for tourists?

   Kolomna is my native town. Everyone can see how  ancient and beautiful it is. Lately a lot of tourists are discovering a new destination for themselves. And I am glad that it is my town. What features make our town attractive for tourists?

   First, it is located not far from Moscow.

   Then, there are a lot of historical architectural monuments, churches, convents and monasteries here.

   Moreover, the pride of Kolomna is a new speed-skating center. I hope it will draw new tourists and sportsmen to our town.

   However, Kolomna needs some facilities to become a better tourist destination, such as good hotels, souvenir shops, modern comfortable coaches and of course, well-trained guides.

   The other thing we should bear in mind is that our town must remain an old Russian town with its own quiet dignity. As you know, its tourist development might cause some problems in this point.

   Besides, one more problem can arise. I mean the improvement of our transport system without changing the town’s unique structure.

   In conclusion, it’s quite probably that we can do our best to make Kolomna a really clean and flourishing tourist town with its special attractive features.

                KOLOMNA – MY HOME TOWN

Kolomna is my home town. I think it’s one of the most beautiful towns in Moscow region.

It was founded in 1177 on the banks of the rivers Oka, Moskva and Kolomenka. Kolomna is an ancient town which was built as a fortress to defend Moscow against the invaders in the south-east.  

The historical part of Kolomna is very attractive to visitors of our town. You can’t help admiring the masterpieces of ancient architects: the Kolomna Kremlin with its main Uspensky Cathedral, beautiful churches( with onion domes) and bell-towers looks really wonderful. Near the Kremlin Wall, beside the Marinkina Tower you can see a new monument to Dmitry Donskoy.In the middle of Sobornaya Square there is a monument to Kirill and Mephody. It was also opened not long ago.

Now the pride of Kolomna is a new speed-skating centre.Different kinds of championships are held here every year. I think it will draw even more tourists into our town.

Kolomna is old and young at the same time. I like its green streets and parks, historical and cultural monuments, new shops and cafes. Every year Kolomna welcomes thousands of tourists to its places of interest. I hope if you visit Kolomna, you will enjoy it too.
