(игра-путешествие)

«Going to Great Britain»

Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку  «Going to Great Britain»

представляет собой игру, состоящую из 7 туров и блицтурнира  между  двумя командами  группы обучающихся 1-го курса.

Цель мероприятия:  развитие иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции (речевой, языковой, учебно-познавательной), повышение мотивации студентов к изучению иностранного языка.

Задачи мероприятия:

Образовательные:

• повторение  и обобщение  лингвострановедческого  материала  по теме «Англо-говорящие страны».
• формирование у обучающихся речевых умений;
• формирование у обучающихся интереса к культуре стран изучаемого   языка;
• расширение кругозора обучающихся;
• повышение  интереса  к изучению иностранного языка,
• расширение лексического  запаса студентов.

Развивающие:

• расширение  знаний учащихся по указанной теме;
• развитие коммуникативных умений;
• развитие лингвострановедческой компетенции;
• развитие памяти, мышления, фантазии;
• развивать способности студентов сопоставлять, анализировать и обобщать;
• познакомить студентов с дополнительной страноведческой информацией;

Воспитательная:

• воспитание умения группового взаимодействия и уважения к партнерам по команде и соперникам

Оборудование: презентация в формате PowerPoint, ПК, экран.

Ход мероприятия

Правила проведения игры:

1. разделить группу на команды;

2. выбрать жюри для фиксации результатов;

3. объяснить правила игры.

I. Организационный момент

Good afternoon, dear students. I am pleased to see you. I think you’ve noticed that we have guests today. Look at them and don’t worry. Today we’ll play a game  «Going to the UK». Today we are going to summarise what we’ve learnt about  Great Britain and refresh our knowledge. There are 2 teams in our game:

You know that the United Kingdom of Great Britain is rich in scientists, writers, artists and other celebrities. Name a celebrity as described in the card:

1) He  was born on April 23, 1564, in the town of Strat-ford-upon-Avon.   His early tragedy is "Romeo and Juliet".   Between 1600 and 1608  he wrote his four great tragedies, "Hamlet" "Othello" "Macbeth" and "King Lear". "Hamlet" is probably the most popular, the best-known of all his plays. It is a very philosophical play.    "King Lear" is the greatest of all his  tragedies.

2) He, one of the greatest men in the history of science, was born in a little village in England in 1642.When he was nineteen he became a student of Cambridge University. He began to study physics, astronomy and mathematics. He discovered the law of motion and the universal law of gravitation. He studied the nature of light and colour and came to the conclusion that white light is composed of many different colours known to us as the spectrum. Such a phenomenon was quite unknown before his work.

3) He was born in the beginning of the 19th century. He was a great biologist. He created a new theory of evolution. Once there were only simple organisms living in the seas, hundreds millions of years they have developed to produce all the different kind animals and plants we knew today.

4) He was born at the end of the 17th century. He was interested in electricity very much and spent long months studying this strange force. He discovered that electricity passed from the magnet to the wires and cowbell become a strong electric current. So he opened many laws of electricity and magnetism.

Интересные факты

• Забавно, но если в слове «queue» (очередь) убрать последние 4 буквы, произношение не изменится. [kju:]
• В слове «indivisibility» ['ɪndɪ’vɪzə'bɪlətɪ] (единство, неделимость) буква I повторяется 6 раз.
• А слово «goddessship» (божественность) – единственное слово, где согласная буква повторяется 3 раза подряд.
• Слово «slave» (раб) напрямую связано со славянами: в древние времена германские племена продавали представителей славянских племен в рабство римлянам.
• Русское слово «аврал» произошло от английской команды «Over all» — все наверх.
• Каникулы… это волшебное слово… «Canicular days» — это самые жаркие дни в июле и августе, когда на небо восходит звезда Сириус в созвездии Большого Пса. Римляне ее называли «Canicula» от «canis» — «пес». То есть, если дословно перевести, «каникулы» — «собачьи дни».
• Самая сложная скороговорка в английском языке, даже носители с трудом ее выговаривают: «The sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick» (Шестая овца шестого больного шейха больна). Попробуйте сами…
