2. Составить занимательную викторину на знание различных аспектов и фактов, связанных с миром техники.  

LOOKING AT MACHINES.

People have been inventing new machines for thousands of years. Here are some very strange inventions: the duck-watch, the alarm-bad, the alarm-kettle, "Teas made", the swinging ship, the floating suitcase and many others

How machines work.

When children were little more than six they thought that men must be Alive inside the radio to act in plays. It is not true.

In 1493 Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian painter and inventor, drew a picture of the first bicycle. It had pedals, breaks and a chain. However, it was never built because, at that time, people did not know how to build a machine like this.

The first bicycles were built in the early 1800s. There weren’t any pedals.

The first bicycles with pedals were made in 1839.

The bicycle with one wheel mush bigger than the other, was popular in the 1870s.

By the end of the 19th century bicycles were beginning to look similar to those of today.

Now many people all over the world enjoy riding bikes.

A bike for two or more people is called a tandem.

The space shuttle.

The first space shuttle was launched by the Americans in 1981. It was the first reusable spacecraft. In other words, it could go into space and return to earth and unlike other spacecraft; it could be used more than once. But Russian spacecraft were launched in 1963. It is so important because the astronauts in the shuttle do important work in space. They carry out experiments in Spacelab, which is a science laboratory carried inside the cargo bay.

There is no gravity in space and scientists were interested in what happens to plants and animals when they are weightless.

Another important job for astronauts is launching satellites into space. They use the robot arm for this. They can also catch damaged satellites using the robot arm.

Communication.

Radio waves carry information across very long distances. For example, radio waves can carry the voices of astronauts from space stations or rockets in outer space, to earth. We can sit in our own homes and listen to radio programmes and watch television from all over the world.

Computers.

Computers are part of our everyday lives. They can store an enormous amount of information on tiny ‘chips’. The machine, including the monitor, the chips and the keyboard, is called the ‘hardware’. The ‘software’ tells the machine what to do. Your computer can write letters, and books and reports, it can play games with you, it can be your teacher or became a very fast calculator
