What do you know about “arzhaan”? “ Ulaatay”

This “arzhaan” is situated in region Ovur. It is the favourite place for holiday - makers from all Tuva. It is one of the well – known radon springs.

Waters containing radon prescribed for the treatment of perepheral nervous system, heart diseases, disorder of motor function and for stomach.

All people from other places come to this place in order to undergo a cure.

On fine summer days one can see colorful tents and all kinds of vehicles around the spring.

There is a custom with Tuvans to worship the “arzhaan” on the first day of arrival. For this purpose offerings of milk, food and money are brought there. Trees at the “arzhaan” are decorated with strips of multi – coloured cloth. This ritual is an offering to the spirit of “arzhaan”. People say that the spirit of “arzhaan Ulaatay” is the woman with the white horse. Each “arzhaan”has its own spirit.
