The adventure of The Littles.

        That was a usual spring day. It was dirty and slushy outside. But only bright sun uplifted people who were in a hurry for work with sad doomed faces in the early morning.

        The Littles had bad mood too, because their house was drowned when it rained again. The Littles were an amicable family, but that one different from others. Their size was like a palm, but they were smaller. The Littles were so small and it was hard to live for them. This family consisted of four members. Lewis and Mary were parents. Their children Audrey and Thomas were twins. They were insufferable and they always quarreled and found adventures.

Once, when it was autumn Audrey walked and met a spider. Thomas saw this scene and understood that he had to save his sister. But the boy didn’t have time to do anything because a dog came running, frightening off the spider and Audrey hid under a leaf. Twins always got into dangerous situations as that one.

        But that time the whole family was in danger. Their house was destroyed by heavy spring rain, and they were looking for a new place for home.

        The family walked down the street and suddenly Audrey said:

- I’m so tired! Let’s relax some time, please.

        - If we stop now, we will not find a really good place for our home, Audrey, – replied dad.

        - Ohhh… OK! – the girl whispered and rolled her eyes.

        Thomas wanted to say something to his sister, but dad stopped him:

• A Giant! Hide everybody!

The Littles hid under leaves next to a tree. There was a five-year-old boy. The Littles call people giants. They scared people, because once upon a time The Littles’s entire race was destroyed by humans and they were only ones left alive.

The boy came to a puddle that was next to the leaves where were The Littles. The boy put some kind of small twist into the water, smiled and ran away. The Littles went out of the shelter.

-Now we have to cross a “lake” – Thomas said and everybody looked at the thing that the boy put into the “lake”

- That’s a ship – exclaimed Audrey and clapped. – We can use it to cross the “lake”.

- Yes, you’re right – replied the mother.

- Let’s do it! – said Thomas and ran to a puddle.

Actually, the “ship” was a usual paper boat.

-It may to not be durable enough –  the dad said sternly and stopped a boy who wanted to get on the boat first.

Dad carefully came to the boat and touched it. He boarded the ship and said:

- I think it’s durable enough. Come here!

Audrey bravely came to the boat and in a second she was already next to her father. Mum carefully did the same. And when Thomas tried to get on the boat a strong wind blew. The ship sailed from the shore and Thomas screamed almost fell into the water. But dad caught his hand and climbed into the boat.

-How are you? – mother asked excitedly.

-I’m okay… - answered Thomas.

Dad saw in the water some branches. He got it out o the war and said:

-We will use it like oars.

He gave everybody the oar. They started to pull the oars and boat was swimming slowly.

        But suddenly something hit the water – somebody stepped into the puddle.

• A Giant! – scared said Audrey.

        A big wave rose from behind the blow. Ship staggered and The Littles screamed.

        -Hold on! – said mum.

Ship almost returned, but stayed afloat. The waves got smaller and at eventually disappeared altogether. Because of the waves, the ship itself sailed to the other side.

        -Is everybody well? – asked dad.

        -Yes! – said twins together.

        -That’s okay, – replied mum.

        The Littles got off the boat ashore.

-Look! – Audrey pointed to a place near a tree – This could be a good place for our new home!

-Hmmm… – Dad carefully looked at that place, and everyone waited what he would decide, - I think you’re right, Audrey.

- Well, let’s build our new house – said mum and took off her backpack and took out all the materials for building. And they started working. Twins found different twigs and parents held them together. The Littles continued to work another two hours and soon finished.

- Well, it was a hard day, but we managed.

Family proudly looked at their new house.

        -And now we can finally relax! – said Audrey and the whole family went to the house.

        It’s so hard to live when you’re smaller than even a human palm.
