Тема эссе “Reading: Forgotten Pleasures?”

The 21st century is the age of high technology. A wide variety of machines replaced things, familiar to us from old times. No doubt, technological marvels help people, and we don’t know how to do without them.

However, there is something that a person has lost getting scientific inventions. It is reading books. Instead of reading, people prefer watching movies and e-books wich have supplanted the usual ones. But how movies and e-books can displace printed books? Book is not just a couple of hundred pages, it is the whole world. And this world is wonderful and exciting. While reading a book, we free our imagination. Reading allows you to "try on" the lives of the characters, their feelings and emotions. And it is awesome!

Besides, reading helps to learn. Some students read books to develop speech and to broaden the vocabulary, others learn a new language.

As for me, I read a lot. Reading grabs my attention, and I can read a book the whole day. When the book is interesting, it seems that there is a new world around me, and a whole ocean of events and feelings is waiting for my dive. I definitely prefer printed books. In my opinion the smell of books and the crunch of pages cannot be compared with anything.

As for a genre, I enjoy fantasy. Fantasy is the door to something new, unusual and unknown. It helps go away from the boring life into a world of adventure and magic. Fantastic books externalize our dreams about travels, force people to believe in the best. It is the embodiment of fairy tales, which we remember from childhood.

I also try to inspire my friends. After reading an amazing story, I describe it as exciting as possible so that they want to read it. And it helps!

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that while reading a book, we develop ourselves. Ability to read and dream is a feature of man. Therefore, people should not forget about this magnificent gift. Friends, let's read a book! It is such pleasure!
