                                       English in Kuzbass

  “You will have more chances to win the lottery if you buy a ticket”- Winston Groom said. I’m absolutely agree with him. I think if you want to have a great life you should do something significant. For example, learn English and use it as a chance of improving your life without leaving your country.

    Even here, in Kuzbass we feel the importance of English. More than 15% of people speak English аnd use it in their job. There are lots of reasons for learning English in Kusbass. First of all we need it because knowledge of English opens the door to a great and interesting life. I mean more freedom, more knowledge, more  opportunities for you: travelling and communication with people of different nationalities, studying abroad, having a prestigious job and so on.
  There are a number of arguments for learning English in Kuzbass, but the best one is looking around.  English is everywhere: TV, computer, transport, shops, signs, international trade, banking systems. You can see a lot of advertisements and signboards in English in the streets. If you know English well, you can read and understand them. Many people prefer to use English words in everyday speech: programmer, doctor, manager, businessman, jeans, O.K., Internet, computer and it doesn’t matter for them whether they are from normal style or from slang. Also English is in online world these days.
 There are lots of instructions in English. If you know English you needn‘t ask somebody to help you with the translations (by the way, it saves you money too!)

  Also we do shopping buying clothes from other countries through the Internet. If you know English well you can do it without problem, because you can read something about sizes of this or that thing, what it is made of, what can do with it and so on. \Knowledge of English saves you time because you can read or listening the international news, watch programs in English (for example, BBC or CNN) for your education.

As for entertainment, you can watch movies, listen to music, or reading books in English.

    Besides every year thousands of people from Kusbass go to different countries as   tourists. A lot of tourists come to our region too. For example, students from the State Universities of Kemerovo hold the excursions in English in Tomskaya Pisanitsa for foreign delegations.

    I’m sure that Kuzbass is a successful region thanks English too, because it is necessary in every sphere of our life: mining industry, medicine, education, economy, business, politic and science, diplomacy and new technology, trade, sport and music.
But where can you get English knowledge, if you do not live in the English language country?  

    To my mind, schools and even kindergartens are the first steps in learning English in our country. Children study this language at schools from the first class through grammar and syntax.  At secondary schools  teenagers are  taught  to  use it  for communication with their friends from different countries through the internet. I can’t help but note that now students in Kuzbass have very good books, which is approved with the Federal State Educational Standards.
The Governor of the Kemerovo region annually allocates significant means from the regional budget for the creation of new English language schools with new exams and tests according to the European Standards. For example, after graduation such kind of schools  as” Benedict” or “High Light” you get a certificate, which can be used  to have a good job or education in future. Here you can learn English in a special way, which is more approximately to real English. It’s a good practice for you. There, teaches give you useful information and knowledge from the foreign exercise books.
The popularity of these schools shows the popularity of English in our region.

 In Kuzbass there are a lot of universities where students learn English too. Some universities teach future translators and linguists. English can help you to study abroad and after coming back you can use your knowledge to share ideas at home.     I know a lot of people learning English by themselves because they haven’t enough money to pay for the courses of English, but they have a great will to do it.

      English language is very important for the economy of   Kuzbass. Economics, like any other science, has its own rules and laws. The language of the economic sphere is English.
    Speaking about coal mining-as one of the main important industries in Kusbass region, we can’t but mention company “SUEK- Kusbass”. Since 2003 year more than 60% of coal production of this company is exported to the UK, Romania, Spain and Finland, thereby enriching the budget of Kusbass Region.
“SUEK-Kusbuss” buys the equipment from abroad. For example, the miner combine “Pioma” is from Poland and “Joy” is from Canada. Moreover, the best minors are sent for education to the countries of equipment’s production such as Canada, Germany and England. Will it be possible without English? I think it won’t, because all international meetings and signing contracts are in English.

      As for such sphere as medicine, Kuzbass annually confirms it world level. Medical technologies of our specialists were marked at the conference of the European Academy of natural Sciences. So, Michail  Merzlyakov was awarded the medal of Koch and received the first place for the development of surgery. I think that English is the best way of communication in this case too.

 In other words it’s very difficult to declair about your achievements to the world without knowledge of English.
     Special mention deserves the Federal state health-care institution “Scientific – technical centre of miners’ health” in the city of Leninsk- Kuznetsky.  It has successfully introducing high technology methods of treatment with the use of the latest achievements of the world medicine.
Thanks English,  Kuzbass is known on the world stage for its sport achievements in gymnastics, kickboxing and powerlifting. We are proud of the Palace of gymnastics in Leninsk- Kuznetsky. It’s the largest sport complex in the world. Gymnasts of this complex are constantly take part in the international competitions in Northern Ireland, France, USA, Mongolia, Bulgaria, China and other countries. It holds international tournaments and establish contacts with different sport clubs.

    To come back to the point raised at the beginning, I really think that English language is the best investment for the further development of our region.
And in conclusion I want to say that knowledge of English helps me  better understand the importance of my native language  and to be proud of my Motherland, which belongs to the great country of  Russia, which plays a huge role on the world stage. English is just the connecting chain between different countries in the world and Kuzbass is one of the best link of this chain.

So, teach English and your life will be interesting and bright!
