ENGLISH UNITS THE WORLD

Russian language is my mother tongue in which I was brought up. It gives me a feeling of national pride. I like when people name native language as the

“heart language” . In such a way people express their deep feelings to it. I’m sure, that Russian language is the most flexible, unique and has a certain charm. It’s not easy to learn. I thank the God for such an outstanding language! It’s the language of my parents and grandparents, of outstanding writers and poets and the language of simple people of my country.

I’m a foreign English speaker. But I adore English as well. For as long as I can remember myself, I’ve been fascinated with the English language and all things related to it. I want to know this beautiful language perfectly and not only for my future life which I want to be connected with. It’s a language of science, business, sky, ship, sport etc.

  There are about 6000-7000 different languages spoken in the world today. But English is far more worldwide in its distribution than all other spoken languages.  It is an official language in 52 countries as well as in many small colonies and territories.  In addition, 1/4 to 1/3 of the people in the world understand and speak   English to some degree.  It has become the most useful language to learn for international travel and is now the language of diplomacy. English is also the dominant language in electronic communication, particularly on the Internet. English is spreading around the world! I’ m sure that nobody can stop this process! And there’s no need in it.

 I am strongly motivated to learn it because I know it will put me in touch with more people than any other language. These feelings are natural and not artificial! So how does a language come to achieve global status? In my opinion, it cannot be considered as superior to other languages. In fact, every single language has its special characteristics and ways of expression. English has simply developed to be an easy way of communication between various nations. Of course, people from different parts of the world speak English with various accent and dialects, and people have to learn about the difference between different kinds of English in order to avoid misunderstanding while communicate. It's also remarkable (at least for me!) to see that not all languages have the same structure.

 To sum up  I want to say, that English is the most common language that unites people of different race, so the need to know it is a big plus to any human being. English today is definitely essential for every good specialist and educated person.
