"Welcome to Kozinka"

Dear friends!

My name is Olga Taranik. I am a pupil of the 7 th form.

  It’s a great pleasure for me to introduce my native village.  Kozinka was founded more than three centuries ago, in 1663.There are a lot of legends connected with the name of my village.

There are 1370 people who live here.

In the centre of Kozinka there is the Monument to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War. It represents the Unknown Soldier with flag in his right hand. We will never forget that War and those, who does not present beside. The names of the soldiers who died for the freedom of our country during the Great Patriotic War are written on the stone walls of the Memorial.

 There are many religious people in my native village.

We have got a beautiful Church of St. John the Divine. It was founded in 1900.

There is a school in the centre of Kozinka. The school was opened in 1986. It is not very big. It’s a modern three storied building of a typical design. Near the school there is a small garden with beautiful flower beds, behind it there is a nice sports ground. We have a good Local History museum in our school.

The simple beauty of our places is unique. Kozinka stands in a very beautiful place on the bank of the Vorskla River.  You may think that the life in the village is rather dull and far from being interesting.

But I’ll try to prove that this life has got quite a lot of advantages. Every morning you get up and breathe in fresh air full of various scents which depend on a season: in summer it is a smell of fresh grass and flowers, in winter it is a smell of frost and snow which covers everything with its white thick duvet. Kozinka becomes especially beautiful in early spring when everything is in blossom. We have a forest and many fields around our village.

In 1924, on the right coast of the Vorskla River, behind the wood, immigrants from Glotovo and Kozinka villages founded the farm with a beautiful name “Zemnoi Rai”. It has been chosen not casually: rich chernozem, huge blossoming, the river, the wood, and the hills protecting settlements of the North, variety of curative herbs (the thyme, the St. John’s Wort, the yarrow, the chamomile...)

There is a Monument of Nature near Kozinka. March “Mokhovatoye” is situated in the forest between my village and Gora – Podol, in the ravine formed after ancient glacier. I must admit that it is an unusual place. In 1902 it was described by the academician V.M. Sukachev.  The area is completely wild. Besides, the territory is of great value as a peat bog of the steppe zone of Europe. The area contains some very rare plants, not typical for our region. Water is also unusual here that you can use it without any soap.

I like Kozinka because it is my birthplace. I want it always to be beautiful and clean.
