                                                                2014 Winter Olympics Motto

       We’d been expecting this event for so long, and finally it happened. Sochi was selected as the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics! I still remember that moment when Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee, exclaimed it. These Olympics are the first Winter Olympics (and the first Olympics altogether) for the Russian Federation, as the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow were in the Soviet Union. It means that we are facing an incredible and monumental event for new Russia right now!

       Firstly, we, Russian people, are all full of enthusiasm because of this fact. Secondly, when you ask about preparing, building and creating infrastructure for the Winter Olympics in Sochi as it is needed, we are doing it well. And lots of honoured guests and sportsmen who visit the Olympic stadiums and other installations think so. For example, Jan Dijkema, The Vice President of the International Skating Union, says that the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has taken a highly professional approach in its preparations for the Games. He is sure that we all will witness highly successful Olympic Games, and the organizers have already done an excellent job there.

        I think that the Games will be really held well. Why not? We deserve it, afterwards. And as the history shows, Russia is known for its ability to create the most impressive events in the world. I strongly believe that our ceremony of the Olympic Games will obscure even the 2012 London’s. To dream is not harmful, is it? We trust Sochi with its Olympics, Russian sportsmen and our country itself will be able to become the brightest star in the sports firmament!

        Let’s wait for a little (till next year!) and we’ll find out.
