The history of Russia is inextricably linked with the universal history of the development of world civilization, if it were not for Russia, history could be different. At critical moments in human history, it was our country that stood in the way of Genghis Khan's hordes, then Hitler's armadas. Russia is its great people, the very creator of history.
What do others think of us? Many people have been interested in this question at all times, but each time in the context of a certain historical situation.

Foreigners begin to show interest in Russia already at the dawn of its statehood and play one role or another throughout the following centuries, depending on the specific circumstances of the development of both the country itself and other states. This normal process, which took place in the history of all peoples, has acquired specific features in Russia.
History is changing, and so are we. We begin to feel differently about ourselves, we have new life guidelines and values, but eternal questions remain. In order to find out how we appear in the eyes of other nations, this study was conducted.
The hypothesis: The stereotypes about our country that have developed in Russian popular culture are already far from the real ideas of foreigners about Russia.
The aim of my project: familiarization of students with the opinion of English-speaking foreigners about Russia and expansion of socio-cultural competence.
According to the aim of my project I have put the following tasks:
• to conduct a survey among students on the topic "Stereotypes about Russia";
• to analyze the survey results;
• to study the views of foreign bloggers and interview foreigners about Russia;
• to prepare a training presentation for students in grades 5-6;
• to organize and conduct a lesson on the topic.
I used the following research methods:
Theoretical: survey of students; charting and analysis of the survey; study of literature and materials of Internet resources on this topic.
Empirical: conducting a lesson, making a presentation.
Object of the research: elementary school students, foreigners.
Subject of the research: stereotypes about Russia.
Project produce: presentation.
Steps of the project:
I wanted to talk about the stereotypes associated with our country, Russia, about how they are formed and tell you which stereotypes are relevant to this day. Consequently, I had to establish the definition of the term “stereotype” and to provide examples from other countries.
That's why I decided to conduct a survey among students and foreigners, as well as to create an interactive presentation game for secondary school students.
On this step I defined the project name: «Russia through the eyes of foreigners», the problem, the aim and the tasks of it. I spoke to my supervisor. We worked out the plan and ways of my actions.

Searching the Internet, I found a lot of information.It turns out that stereotypes are closely related to our lives. Researchers, psychologists and sociologists identify various types of stereotypes:
In my project, I consider ethnic stereotypes associated with a particular country.
I noticed that stereotypes surround us everywhere. Therefore, foreigners see Russia through established stereotypes. It's time to find out what are the most common stereotypes among foreigners. And what stereotypes are common about Russia in the opinion of schoolchildren. For this reason, I conducted a survey among 5th grade students.
I asked them to answer the following questions (Supplement1):
I also conducted a survey among foreigners.I asked them to answer the following questions(Supplement1):
Analysis of diagram №1(Supplement 2) to the question “What do you think is the most common stereotype about Russia?” shows that most of the respondents think that the most common stereotype about Russia is that a bear is a friend of a Russian person.
Analysis of diagram№2 (Supplement 2) to the question: “What do you think about Russia?” indicates that the least common stereotype is "Moscow and Saint-Petersburg are among the most beautiful cities".
In order to familiarize students with how foreigners see Russia, I decided to create an interactive presentation game. Interactive presentation is a game that helps to learn about stereotypes related to our country, as well as about stereotypes related to other countries. One of the main advantages of the presentation is its colorfulness and easy presentation of the material in a playful way.
The purpose of this presentation is to talk about what stereotypes are associated with our country and other countries.When creating a presentation, I tried to follow the following rules:
I fulfilled all the conditions of the assignment; the information and the type of presentation became accessible and interesting to study.
At this stage, I have entered into the system all the data on the project and formed a project plan. And then I created a presentation to support my work.
The game format of learning information is one of the most effective. I used it in my project product.
While working on the project, I had to study and put in action various research methods and techniques:
The presentation is made in bright colors with pictures for easy perception of information.
When working on a project, I:
• made a list of questions and conducted a survey among the Internet users;
• learned to build and analyze a chart.
When making an interactive presentation:
As a result of the work done, the following conclusions can be drawn: the goal of my project has been achieved, the task has been completed. I conducted a survey among 5th grade students and foreigners, charted and analyzed them, and then drew conclusions. An interactive presentation has been created and presented to secondary school students (Supplement 3).
In the course of my work, I realized the main thing for myself: there are a lot of stereotypes. Some of them are true, and some are more like fiction. Everyone knows at least a few stereotypes about Russia and a few about other countries.
