Introduction
What is Wikipedia?
In simple terms, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that everyone can edit or supplement. However, this freedom is limited by a lot of strict rules, if you do not comply with them, your article, unfortunately, can be put up for deletion. This procedure will be discussed later.
The main task of Wikipedia is to provide everyone with access to the knowledge that mankind has accumulated over time. It can be concluded that Wikipedia is not a place to publish your own research. The article must adhere to a neutral point of view, as well as have verifiability.
Purpose: the Project has a cognitive purpose.
Task: to Introduce the rules and community of the Internet encyclopedia.
«...An article in Wikipedia is not an essay, but an exposition».
1.The aims of writing an article.
Before the beginning, you need to make sure and answer yourself the questions: does the subject matter of the article matter? For example, if you are writing an article about a writer, you should know whether he has appeared in professional publications of reviews and analytical materials devoted to his work. Did he have the most significant, authoritative and prestigious professional awards and other awards (from Russian ones: «Электронная буква», Большая книга, Ясная поляна, etc.)? Have his books been published in prestigious publishing houses? («Молодая гвардия», «Советский писатель», Эксмо, etc).
Next, does the article have verifiability? As I wrote earlier, a Wikipedia article is not an essay, but an exposition. Therefore, for each paragraph, and preferably for each sentence (where appropriate), it is necessary to back up footnotes with the source from which you took this information. Sources can also be offline, for example: Newspapers, books, and reference books. But it should be remembered that the source must be significant, for example, if you took information from the directory, it must be published by a large publishing house, have a decent circulation (about 1 thousand or more), that is, the information in it has been edited and checked.
2. The structure and design.
Let us say you followed all of the above, wrote an article, and are ready to move it to the main space... what about the design? This is also worth paying a lot of attention, because it will give the article quality and it will be pleasant to read. Let's say you wrote a sheet of text and placed the template "This article requires design and finishing" on your article.
Before you remove this template, check, and later correct or remove it: non-Encyclopedic style of the text (for example, the article should be written in a third person), you should also avoid Penrith and "water", that is, instead of "significant deterioration of the criminal situation" say "increase in crime", instead of "implementation of measures to involve the General population in mass sports competitions" — "support for mass sports" and so on.
Article card:
It is necessary to issue an article card (do not overdo it, specify at least a minimum of information):
{{Infobox writer
| native_name =
| birth_name =
| image =
| caption =
| birth_date =
| death_date =
| death_place =
| occupation =
| nationality =
| genre =
| language =
| movement =
| notableworks =
| period =
| alma_mater =
| signature =
}}
Footnotes:
If the information is taken from a book / reference, use the template: {{Citebook|title=|last=|first=|publisher=|year=|isbn=|location=| pages=}}
If from the site: {{cite web |author= |url= |title= |lang= |website= |publisher= |date= |accessdate=2020-02-14}}.
If the article was put up for deletion?
If this happened, one of the participants doubted the significance and verifiability of the article's subject. In this case, it is necessary... to wait. If the majority of participants voted against it in a reasoned vote, then the article is unfortunately deleted and its return is possible only if there is evidence that the article now meets the criteria, such an application is left for Wikipedia: to restore.
Conclusion.
In conclusion, we can say that creating an article, in fact, does not carry anything difficult. And if it is difficult-contact other participants or in the General forum, there you will always be helped and given advice.
