U nconsciousness Unconsciousness occurs when a person is suddenly unable to respond to stimulus and appears to be asleep. A person may be unconscious for a few seconds (as is the case with fainting) or for longer periods of time.

First aid for unconsciousness Call 03. Check the person's breathing, and pulse frequently. If the person is breathing and lying on the back, and you do not think there is a spinal injury, carefully roll the person toward you onto the side. If you think there is a spinal injury, leave the person where you found him. Keep the person warm until medical help arrives. If you see a person fainting, try to prevent a fall. Lay the person flat on the floor and raise the legs. Do NOT give an unconscious person any food or drink. Do NOT leave the person alone. Do NOT place a pillow under the head of an unconscious person. Do NOT slap an unconscious person's face or splash water on the face to try to revive him.

S hock Shock is a life-threatening condition in which the body's vital functions are threatened due to lack of sufficient blood or oxygen flow to the tissues. If back, neck, or head injury suspected, DO NOT move victim. If no back, neck, or head injury suspected, lay victim face up and elevate feet about 12 inches. DO NOT place victim in position that is uncomfortable. DO NOT give victim anything to eat or drink. If victim vomits, roll the victim onto their side and clean out victim's mouth.

First aid for shock Loosen any tight clothing. Look for injuries, and control any bleeding ( external bleeding,). Cover victim lightly with blanket. Put an unresponsive victim or a stroke victim in the Recovery Position. Make certain victim's airway open, using head-tilt lift chin to open airway, even if back, neck, or head injury is suspected. Seek medical assistance immediately. Call for EMS.

P oisoning When one eats food that contains agents not meant for consumption, the result is often food poisoning.

F irst aid if poisoning Avoid solid foods until vomiting е nds . Don’t eat fried, greasy, spicy, or sweet foods. Drink clear fluids, starting with small sips and gradually drinking more. If vomiting and diarrhea last more than 24 hours, drink an oral rehydration solution.

S unstroke Sunstroke is a life threatening condition in which the body's heat-regulating system fails, due to exposures to high temperatures

F irst aid in sunstroke While waiting for emergency medical assistance, strip the affected of his clothing and immerse in cold water. Help airflow with any item you found. Move the affected person to a cool place. If the person is conscious, give water.

B urns A burn is an injury that results from heat, chemical agents, or radiation. It may vary in depth, size, and severity, causing injury to the cells in the affected area.

First aid in burns Immerse the burned part in cold water. Blot dry gently. Apply dry, sterile gauze or clean cloth as a protective bandage. Do not break blisters or remove tissue. If the arms or legs are affected, keep them elevated.

B leeding Bleeding is a process of loss of blood from the blood vessels.

F irst aid for bleeding Call the ambulance. Lie down the injured person and cover him to prevent the loss of body heat. Remove superficial dirt and debris from the wound. Don't attempt to clean or probe the wound. Apply pressure directly over the wounds until the bleeding stops. Get the injured person to the emergency room as soon as possible.

First aid for fracture m aintain an open airway . call for an ambulance or medical assistance. prevent motion of the injured parts . elevate involved extremities, if possible, without disturbing the suspected fracture. apply splints, if ambulance service is not available, if there is a delay in transportation.
