Introduction
English-speaking countries of the Caribbean region are island countries located in the Caribbean Sea between North and South America. They include the Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and some others.
The second official name of the region is West Indies. Christopher Columbus accidentally discovered a new land, confusing them with India. This happened in 1492 and since then the Spaniards began to explore new territory. Native tribes who lived here were gradually died out.
Along with Spain on the new land began to claim other European countries, among them was Britain. After some time Britain colonized these countries.
To grow cocoa beans, coconut, coffee, tobacco and sugar a lot of slaves from Africa were brought there.
Trinidad and Tobago.
Capital: Port of Spain, Trinidad

Political Status: Independent nation and Republic within the Commonwealth
History
The island of Trinidad was a Spanish colony from the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1498.
Then in 1802 the island became a British colony. In the following years, enslaved Africans were brought in to work on sugar plantations. In 1889, Britain joined the smaller Tobago to Trinidad The islands achieved independence from England in 1962 and became the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 1976.
Tourism is traditionally popular here. Most tourists come here to see different kinds of birds, especially humming-birds.
The Bahamas.

History
The Bahamas became a British colony in 1718. Africans as slaves were brought in to work on plantations. Today the descendants of African slaves form the majority of the population. The Bahamas became an independent in 1973. Queen Elizabeth II is a ruler.
Barbados

History
The earliest inhabitants of Barbados were Native American nomads. Barbados was visited by the Spanish in the 15th century and most of local population were killed or removed. British sailors landed on Barbados in 1625. A lot of black slaves were brought to the island. Barbados remained the British colony until independence in 1966 though Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state.
The name "Barbados" (бородатые) comes from a Portuguese explorer Campos, who called the island Los Barbados because of the bearded hanging roots of fig-trees.
Bermuda
Bermuda (officially, the Bermudas) is a British overseas territory, consists of the group of coral islands. Bermuda consists of coral, formed on the top of an extinct volcano.

History
Bermuda was discovered in 1505 by Spanish captain Juan de Bermúdez, after whom the islands are named. Two centuries later, in 1707 the islands became a British colony and nowadays Bermuda remains British Overseas Territory.
After these islands the Bermuda Triangle was named where mysteriously disappear ships and planes.
Jamaica
Capital: Kingston
Population: people of African and Indian descent with people of mixed race
Language: The official language is English
Political Status: Constitutional monarchy within the Commonwealth
History
When Christopher Columbus arrived in 1494, there were more than 200 villages in Jamaica.
In those time it was called Santiago. In 1655 it came under the rule of Great Britain, and was called Jamaica. It achieved full independence from the United Kingdom in 1962.
Tourism is very popular here. One of the tourist attractions include Dunn's River Falls.
There are some other Caribbean countries speak English. They are considered as Commonwealth Caribbean and include such countries as: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Conclusion
All these countries have much in common.
All of them are located in the Caribbean Sea.
These are the countries that were colonized by England. When they got independence they became part of Commonwealth under the rule of Queen Elizabeth II.
A lot of black slaves from Africa were brought there to work on the plantations. So the black- skin population of these countries consists of African descendant who developed their own original culture.
All the Caribbean countries have warm sunny tropical climate which attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.
