Dear English Friends,

Thank you for coming for the International Youth Festival. We’re glad to meet you in Sochi!

We are students of Lyceum 59, we study in the ninth form. We are going to tell you about our city and Russian traditions. Sochi is the capital of 22 Winter Olympic Games. The most popular winter sports in Russia are : hockey, figure skating, biathlons. Curling has become very popular nowadays, that’s why our classmates play curling and they take part in Russian Curling Championships.

Our citizens are fond of sports! It’s not surprising, because there are a lot of opportunities for us to go in for different kinds of sports. Sochi has a lot of stadiums and arenas. Our city has become the centre of sports, cultural and scientific life of Russia. In September our city welcomed the guests from different countries at the New Wave Music Festival, which has become very popular in Russia.

We have been studying English for 8 years. We are interested in English Literature. We are reading books in the original and watching films. But we have difficulty in learning English Grammar. We‘d like to become pen friends with students from Great Britain.
