Burytia occupies a great territory of Eastern Siberia. The northwestern borderline stretches along the shore of lake Baikal. In the south-on Mongolia, in the north- Sakha-Yakutia, in the west –the Republic of Tuva, in the east on the Chita region. Area: 351,000km². Population:1,056,000, people about 80 Nationalities.

The symbols of Buryatia The state insignia The circle means a horseshoe, the Moon, the Sun, the blue white waves of the Baikal, three mountains, the Fire and blue ribbon-Khadak. The flag of the Republic. Three stripes: blue, white, yellow, which symbolize the sky, clearness and eternity.

The capital of Burytia. The capital of Buryatia is Ulan-Ude. “The red gate.” It was foundet in 1666 by Russian Cossacks. Its first name was Verkhneudinsk. It was on the old Silk Road between Mongolia,China and Russia. It situated on the Uda river and the Selenga. Now Ulan-Ude is a industrial and cultural centre of Siberian. There are many places of interest in the city.
