Our life depends on us…

      Humanity and nature are closely linked. Because nature gives people everything necessary for life: water, air, food. But if we will be dismissive for the environment, following generations lose these wonderful gifts. And we are responsible for the future of their children and the future of the world in general. Actually, people don't really kings and owners of the nature.                                  

     We are only a small fragment of a huge puzzle, but because of us the world is dying slowly day by day. Wrong distribution of resources, harmful industry and such, as it seems little things: you throw a small bag of garbage or the wrapper from the candy on the road. So, from the small amount of rubbish will not be much harm, but what to do when almost everybody will throw in the package, or though a bit of people, but regularly, will leave your household waste in the street of your city or outside of it? It is known that plastic, glass or metal waste is decomposed to several hundred years. But you can put items from these materials in reusing by arranging for the recycling. Batteries can`t be thrown out because one battery located in six tons of garbage, the content of mercury in household solid waste increases more than the maximum permissible limits; pollutes 20 cubic meters of earth or 400 liters of water; can kill a living organism for 30 minutes when it gets inside; all the toxins, entering in the human body during the decomposition of the batteries can be a cause of severe cancer. Used batteries should be disposed of the landfill household waste. A special services must  get  it  to the reception centers, where it will utilize  and never harm the environment.

     Fortunately, in the Republic of Buryatia    the picking of batteries and accumulators for further putting them out for recycling becomes more and more popular event. Organizations, individual businessmen, private individuals decided to start picking used batteries, purchased special containers storage and plenty of leaflets for draw attention to organized action. Their activities are aimed at raising the level of inhabitants` awareness of the Republic against the pollution of nature and it is free of charge.

     One of the participants, Kuznetsov Valery Aleksandrovich, inhabitant of Ust-Barguzin and the owner of the shop "Melochi zhizni". He educates buyers how to  keep household chemicals and equipment and many other products from different industries. He agreed to answer a few questions about why he decided to pick the batteries.

      Valery: «Since childhood I was vaccinated a love of nature and a sense of responsibility for her. For example, after the picnic we always took the garbage with us, did not leave a lit camp fires, always I tried to explain for people that pollute the environment very bad for everybody. Five years ago, I`ve learned the dangerous of batteries, features a single battery to poison a huge amount of water and soil. Moreover, engaging the sale of these batteries, I knew what volumes they are used, and eventually disposed of incorrectly. I need something to do. Recently I learned that a large company of the city Irkutsk through its online-shop upon delivery of the goods takes away from customers the batteries for recycling, and it inspired me. Two or three months ago we started to pick batteries and accumulators and during this time has taken on the processing of 7 - 10 liters (picking is performed in special containers, and therefore, unfortunately, the exact weight cannot be found).  The reaction of the inhabitants of our settlement was very pleasant: only a small part of them is opposing this action. The majority of the people is interested in the health of our planet.   Actually, we can find many ways to save the environment. For instance, we don`t sell washing powders without phosphates and paper bags, trying to show the citizens of the country how to protect the nature. It is not so difficult and I hope that we will be succeeding.

      In conclusion, I would like to say: "We believe natural resources - water, forest, fish are huge , but actually soon we will  talk about some of these things in the past tense, if we don't stop to use the riches  of the planet so  irresponsible."»

     After our dialogue with Valery Aleksandrovich, I was convinced once again that one soldier in the field, if he is sure he is right and doesn’t look for benefit. He is able to think in perspective and doesn`t take care  about  his own  interests, but also about their distant descendants, who also have the right to live under the blue sky, drinking spring water and breathe clean air.

  Cicerone Marcus Tallies, the ancient Greek philosopher, said: "Every day nature reminds us how small things she needs". Indeed, the nature needs only in caring and thrift on the part of human.
