Introduction
London was founded 2000 years ago by the Romans as Londinium. London is situated in the southeastern England and lying astride the River Thames some 50 miles.It is the capital of Great Britain and political, economic and cultural center. Its population is more than one million people. The city is old and its long-past history is told by its streets.
You find a lot of shops, hotels, museums, art galleries, theatres and concert halls. London is a cosmopolitan city because people of many nationalities live here. Many tourists want to visit it.
London is not only the capital city; it is also a very big port, one of the greatest commercial centers in the world, a university city and the seat of the government of the Great Britain. It lies at the center of the lives of Shakespeare, Spenser and etc. Many British scientists or authors were either born there, made their reputations or died there.
English is spoken a lot of people and it is one of the official languages of the United Station. If you want to speak on this language you should visit London and know about history of this city, history of this language and see amazing sights it.
Culture has always been a major object of travel. Tourist attractions and cultural events play a major role in the life of the country. Every ofcountries have their own attractions. There are a lot of them in London. London has many squares and some of them are quiet, others are noisy. Also London is famous for its beautiful parks. If you haven't a chance to visit London and see attractions we can tell you about some of these.

The most popular
London is the capital of Great Britain. A lot of tourists visit this capital but if you can’t visit London we would like to tell you about it.
London eye is a giant observation wheel and it is 135 metres high. It is located in the heart of London. Capsules of this London eye carry up to 28 guests. A complete turn takes about 30 minutes and many famous landmarks are visible, including the House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben.
In the Tower you can see the Crown Jewels , the White Tower, Yeoman Warders, Tower torture, Coins and Kings, Royal Beasts, Fortress, The Fusilier Museum, Medieval Palace, Tower Green and Scaffold Site (execution site), Wall Walk. It was built at the beginning of the eleventh century. There are a lot of ravens there and the legend has it that the Tower and the kingdom will fall without them.
The Shard is the modern glass building and has 72 floors. It is the tallest skyscraper with a height of almost 310 metres.
The Cherkin is a building which has a cigar – shaped structure and steel frame with circular floor plans and a glass facade with dimond- shaped panels. The building is not open to the public because it is a business center.
The Houses of Parliament which also known as the Palace of Westminster consists of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. It is the central seat of the government. There are about 1200 rooms and the gallery is about 35 metres long. The most famous feature of the Palace of Westminster is its clock tower, also known as Big Ben.It is one of the four huge bells inside the tower. The tower is 98 metres high and the bell inside the tower is 14 tons.The minute hands are about 4 metres long and the hour hands are about 3 metres long.
Many tourists want to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral. The dome reaches a height of 111metres and weight is about 66,000 tons. 560 steps lead visitors along three gallerias all the way to the top of the dome. On the top of the dome you have a wonderful view over the city. This church is the site of a number of historical events such as the funeral of Admiral Nelson in 1806 and the funeral of Winston Churchill.
Buckingham Palace is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch. There are 775 rooms, including 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guests’ rooms, 188 staff rooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. Buckingham Palace is decorated with priceless works of art that form part of the Royal Collection but it is not an art gallery and nor is it museum. This building is used for the Queen and members of Royal Family for official and State entertaining.You can see the changing of the guard takes place daily at eleven o'clock in front of this Palace.
The British museum is the largest museum in the UK. It has a collection of more than seven millions objects, including Elgin Marbles, Egyptian collectionand Assyrian collection. Much of the collection rotates so you can see something new with each visit.
At 221 b Baker Street you find the Sherlock Holmes museum. Sherlock Holmes and Dr John H. Watson lived there according to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You can see an exhibition featuring life size waxworks from Sherlock Holmes most famous adventures and pick up some souvenirs and antiques in the shop.
London parks
There are a lot of parks in London and they have unrepeatable character. The most visited parks in London are Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, Regent’s park, St James’s park. Londoners like their parks and are proud of them. London’s parks are full of trees and flowers. You can walk among old trees, relax and take part in different activities such as tennis, swimming and horse - riding.
Regent’s park is a huge, green expanse in the heart of the capital.It is famous for its outdoor activities and entertainments. There is London Zoo positioned over on the north-east corner of the park – an open-air theatre, ornate bandstand, large boating lake, huge mosque and 100-acre sports field add to its many attractions.London Zoo ishome to dozens of mammals, birds, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, visitors of all ages will love this excellent zoo, which is open year round.
St James’s park is one of the Royal parks in London. The park includes The Mall and Horse Guards Parade and is at heart of the ceremonial London, providing the sitting for spectacular
Hyde Park boasts plenty of monuments, memorials and other sights. It is famous for its Speakers’ Corner. Every Sunday people stand on a soap box and proclaim their views on religious, political or other items. Near it stands the Marble Arch and it was built as a gateway to Buckingham Palace. The modern fountain of the southwest of the Serpentine is a memorial installed in honor of Princess Diana.At the south end of Hyde is a famous bridle path which called Rotten Row.There is the beautiful rose garden in the southeast corner of Hyde Park.
You can see the Serpentine, a large lake where is popular for swimming and boating. Kensington Gardens are popular for walking and jogging.The most famous attraction in Kensington Gardens is without a doubt Kensington Palace, the former home of Princess Diana and the birthday place of Queen Victoria. Just north of the statue of Peter Pan, near Hyde Park, lay the ornate Italian Gardens, a water garden.
It's hard to miss the 'Physical Energy' monument and when you look towards the west from the Energy statue you can see anothermonument entitled the 'The Arch'. The six-meter high monument, built from large travertine blocks.
Greenwich Park is the oldest Royal Park which including 74 hectares and is home to a small herd of deer. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views across the river Thames and Central London. The park is a part of Greenwich World Heritage Site, host to the Prime Meridian Line, the old Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum.
Crystal Park is a large park in South London with an outdoor concert stage, national sport center and a children’s farm and playground. It is home to some full-size dinosaurs – models built by the Victorians which lurk betweenthe trees.
Mystic and haunted London
London has the reputation of mystic and haunted capital. Butif you’re really out to prove you have, no fear, try sleeping in haunted hotels and visit mystic and haunted places such as Tower, London Dungeon, Fleet Street and etc.
Perhaps one of our more unusual historical destinations, Highgate Cemetery located in London.
The London Dungeon is the most must-see signature attraction. The shows are based on the legends and real London history including Jack the Ripper and infamous barber of Fleet Street, Sweeney Todd. You will pass through the Whitechapel Labyrinth of misty East London streets, plague- ravaged houses, the fearsome torture chamber and Guy Fawkes. The London Dungeon is scary fun for very young guests, adults and wimps.
Jack the Ripper killed at least five female in 1888. He terrorized the Whitechapel district in London’s East End. Jack the Ripper was never captured, and remains one of England’s, and the world’s most infamous criminals.

The Old Operating Theatre Museum is one of the most unusual museums in London. It was a part of St Thomas Hospital. You can come and explore the history of surgery and herbal medicine in this museum. Visitors can watch demonstrations of surgical techniques from the past and explore the herb garret.
Conclusion
The story of London is ever long and dramatic and so much of culture as a country developed in this city and you will discover more than can possibly remember if you visit some of museums and historical attractions.London is an amazing city which consists of beautiful parks, monuments and buildings. You can visit all of these attractions.
There are a lot of famous buildings such as Westminster Abbey which is stuffed with tombs, statues and monuments, the Houses of Parliament and a famous Big Ban, St. Paul’s Cathedral. All of them have a long and sometimes an unusual history.
There are a lot of parks with their beautiful and interesting landscapes and lakes. You can find different kind of activities there. London owes a great deal of its fame, livelihood to its great River Thames and history. This city would never have been built if this amazing body of water didn’t bring energy and life to its shores. Today the Thames is lined with fantastic bridges and amusements, for example the London Eye. Be sure to cross the Tower Bridge, and take a ride past famous pieces of architecture.
