General facts about Christmas Christmas is the main public holiday in the US. It is celebrated on the 25 th of December (in Russia on January 7 th ). It’s the happiest holiday for people in the country. People see it as a time of merry-making and present-giving. They usually spend time with their families, eat special food and drink a lot. Christmas people wish their nearest and dearest a merry Christmas. New information : This holiday is held in honour of the birth of Christ. On Christmas Eve some people go to a special church service called Christmas Eve service at 12 o’clock at night.
