Vladikavkaz -the City of Military Glory Vladikavkaz , the capital of the Republic of North Ossetia- Alania , was founded as a fortress more than two centuries ago and since then has always been Russia’s most important outpost on its southern borders .Слайд 2
It was just near the city where in 1942 one of the key battles of the Great Patriotic War, the battle for the Caucasus was won by the Soviet soldiers , who stopped the enemy , making the fascists retreat.
Слайд 3
In 2007 my native town was given the right to be called « the City of Military Glory » , being one of forty Russian cities, which defenders heroically fought for their country’s freedom.
Слайд 4
Having looked through a lot of information I got interested in the people who made the history of Vladikavkaz glorious. In Ossetia more than 95 thousand people joined the army during the war and every second one did not return home.
Слайд 5
Wartime is the time full of hardships for everybody, but for women it is the most difficult time. The life stories of some women who stood in a line with men in the war battles impressed me so much that I cannot help telling them.
Слайд 6
A lot of women from North Ossetia met face to face with a cruel enemy during the Great Patriotic War and many of them became famous for their heroic deeds. I wish I could speak about all of them but it is impossible.
Слайд 7
The first in the list of the persons worth mentioning is Vera Salbieva . Vera was from the village of Khumalag . She graduated from the Kiev Military School and went to the front leaving her three young children at home.
Слайд 8
Vera began her military service in the rank of lieutenant as an operator and finished it in Berlin being the Major of the Soviet Army. She was given the order of the Red Banner and 6 other high government awards.
Слайд 9
During a ll those hard war years the young woman missed her adorable children very much. In the letters to her villagers Vera asked them to look after her children and she knew that the people would do it with caring love.
Слайд 10
North Ossetia has given the country a number of famous women-pilots. Full of great events was the life of Ilita Daurova . Before the war Ilita worked in the collective farm of the village Kirov. After graduating from the Military Air School the girl joined the army.
Слайд 11
The brave Ossetian girl made 82 flights. One of them became very remarkable. On December 31, 1941 Ilita dropped Christmas trees to the heroic defenders of Sevastopol. Some of the soldiers of the city had a real holiday then.
Слайд 12
Impressed by the life of the first Ossetian woman-pilot Totrbek Jatiev wrote a children’s novel « Dika » about the girl ( the nickname was formed from the initials of the girl’s full name- D aurova I lita K irillovna ). The main character of the novel has been admired by millions of children since then.
Слайд 13
In the history of the Russian aviation there are also recorded the names of such women-pilots from Ossetia as Evgenia Glamazdina , Madina Mildzikhova , Galina Dzhunkovskaya . A twenty-year-old girl Lyubov Vinogradova went to the front from Mozdok . She made 48 sorties.
Слайд 14
After her 31-st flight, Lyubov wrote a letter to her mother, where the girl asked her not to worry, promising to take care of herself and assuring her mother that she would return home as soon as they won a victory, and embrace her dearly. But she never did.
Слайд 15
The girl died on November 7, 1943. The details of the death became known only 17 years later. The people of the village near which the pilot’s airplane was shot found her documents and photos in the place where the wreckage was found.
Слайд 16
As one can see a lot of women who were born in North Ossetia fought in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. They showed themselves courageous with strong will and character. And people living today try not to forget about their contribution into the victory over the fascism.
Слайд 17
Books are written about those women heroes , songs are sung about the gentle soldiers of the war, films are shot, monuments are created, streets are named after them. All this is done for the younger generation to be brought up in the traditions of the loyalty to the native land.
Слайд 18
People of all ages in our republic and all over Russia are getting ready to meet the 70-th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany. On that day flowers will be laid on the graves of the people who died in the war, artillery salute will be conducted in their order.
Слайд 19
I feel like contributing into the celebration and tell my classmates about those interesting facts that I have found out about Ossetian women and representatives of other nations, who gave their lives for our happiness.
Слайд 20
