English breakfast Breakfast is the first meal of the day. It is at about 8 o'clock in the morning, and consists of porridge with milk, eggs, bread and butter with marmalade or jam. Some people like to drink tea, but others prefer coffee. Children like to eat corn-flakes with milk for breakfast. The tastiest and useful breakfast is the English breakfast.

English lunch Lunch is a light, quick meal . Most people have no time to go back home for lunch so they eat at school, cafes, pubs, restaurants, at work. The lunch begins at one or two o'clock. This meal starts with soup or fruit juice.

English tea The British like tea very much. In England, the traditional time for tea is four or five o'clock. They drink tea 6–7 times a day. The British don’t drink tea with lemon. They usually drink tea with milk. Tea came to England from China, it was only for rich. People from all classes started drinking it. But some people thought than too much tea was bad for your health. So they started put milk in it.

English dinner The main meal is dinner, which is usually between 6 and 7 o’clock. All the members of the family sit down together. Dinner usually consists of soup, fish or meat with vegetables.

Sweet tooth The British have a sweet tooth. They like puddings, pies, jam, rolls, cakes. During holidays they eat even more sweet things.

English table manners It is not polite to take the biggest piece. Don’t put your elbows on the table. It is not polite to leave the table during a meal. Don’t eat from your knife. Never eat while reading. Don’t talk with your mouth full.
