Nanotechnology « Nanotechnology can provide easy access to information and optimise processing it ».
Слайд 4
Our goal The main goal was to say if this hypothesis is confirmed or rejected.
Слайд 5
Modern society is getting more and more informational. «Information is the key factor that wins the battle».
Слайд 6
The potential of nanotechnology in computing and informational technology is breathtaking. The most realistic goal is miniaturisation – no one doubts that within the next decade or two, nanotechnology will provide us with smaller computers with larger memories that can store millions times more information than current processors.
Слайд 7
Imagine that all the wisdom of civilizations is concentrated in a little device of a walnut size.
Слайд 8
Another thing that can boost the developing of society, as well as virtually unlimited storage of information, is the efficiency of getting and sharing it. The work on that is in full swing – researchers have already created nanotube transistors that can operate on extremely high frequencies. They can transmit electrical signals incredibly fast. This novelty is applicable to computers, wireless devices, cell phone systems and so on.

How much information does a common person need? For people it is never enough. Scientists believe that a multifunctional chip that would be implanted under skin can supply people with any information they need, at any place and in any format.

In 2007 Peter Gruenberg and Albert Fert received the Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering GMR effect in recording information on hard disks. A lbert F ert Peter Gruenberg

- Creation of nanorobots for receiving and giving information, to fulfill programmes ; - Creation of new informative gadgets for easy communication ; - Creation of smaller, faster, more energy efficient and powerful computing and other IT-based systems. Now scientists have a lot of goals :

Nanotechnology is essential for developing information society. But how many people do know about nanotechnology? We have conducted a survey to find it out. 87 people took part in the survey . We have studied the results and have come to the conclusion that almost half of the respondents know about positive impact of nanotechnology. But we hope that the attitude towards nanotechnology will change in the nearest future date.

Results of the survey Questions Answers 1. Have you heard about nanotechnology? 1.Yes-55% 2. No-28% 3. I am not sure-28% 2. Can you define what it means? 1. Yes, it is the manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale (14%); 2. No-37%; 3. I understand the word, but I can not explain it-49%. 3. Do you think that nanotechnology can be applied in real life? 1. Yes-58%; 2. No-16%; 3. I do not know-26% . 4. What areas can nanotechnology be applied in? -medicine; -construction; -communications; -theoretical physics researches. 5. Are you happy with the current amount of information accessible to you and the time you can process it? 1. Yes-60%; 2. No-23%; 3. I have never thought about it-17%. 6. Some researchers think that implanted chips will enable any person to transmit and receive any information telepathically. When do you think it will happen? Most people believe that it will happen in 100 years; 7. Do you think the government should encourage research in nanotechnology and invest more money in it? 1. Yes-35%; 2. No-49%; 3. Are not interested in it-16%.

Nowadays, people need more and more information. There is a lot of information in the libraries or in the Internet. How about your own library in your mobile phone, plane-table or e-book? Nanotechnology gives this opportunity to people. Any person can get access to the information, knowledge and beauty that the brightest brains have generated. Nanotechnology can provide easy access to information and optimise processing it .
