Taganrog is a native town of many famous people. The citizens of Taganrog are proud of the great Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Checkov. He was born there and began to write his stories. That’s why a lot of cultural offices are called in honor(онэ) to him. They are a gymnasium, a theatre, a library. The buildings where he lived and worked were transformed into the museums .Everybody can visit them and see how he lived at that time.

Among famous citizens are writers as I.Vasilenko and V.Martunenko , poets as Sofia Volkenshtein and Michael Tanich, sportsmen as Igor Sklyarov and David Rigerd, actors as Pavel Derevyanko, Zinoviy Vusokovsky, Fyodor Dobronravov.

Faina Ranevskaya also was born in Taganrog. She was a very talented actress. Everybody remember the words of her character when she told her husband «Mulya ,don’t annoy me!”.Faina Georgiyevna graduated from  private drama school, then played at many theaters. A lot of Ranevskaya's phrauses turned into popular expressions.She was a comedy actress. The museum of her name is open to visit. 

Derevyanko Pavel is a theatre and film actor.

Was born on the second of July in 1976 in Taganrog.

He studied in GITIS

Pavel acted in many movies, such as "Two drivers" , "The homeland waits", "Site", "Case of "Dead souls", "Tumbler toy" and in many others.

It also took part in theatrical performances and acted in clips.

Pavel was awarded by the award "Tea", "Triumph", and won the prize "The Best Actor" and many others.

Pavel likes to travel in free time.

 David Rigert a world champion in weightlifting, a champion of Olympic Games the head coach of Russian national team of heavy athletics. Lives and works in Taganrog.A sport school of  weightlifting of his name was build in Taganrog.

 Mikhail Tanich is a Soviet and Russian poet-song writer, National actor of Russia. Mikhail went to school

Namber 10 in Taganrog. He worked in the press and in station  radio.The first collection of verses was printed  in 1959.

Dobronravov Feodor is a  Soviet and Russian actor.He was born on the 11th of September in  1961 in Taganrog. Feodor dreamed to be a clown.He studied at the Voronezh state institute of arts.Feodor  Dobronravov won the project "Two Stars". He acted in more than 50 movies, such as "Summer people, "Elimination" ,"Mothers" and  acted in series "Matchmakers", "Are Happy Together", "Father's Daughters" and many others.

Igor Sklyarov – the Russian football player, famous on performances for football clubs. The deserved master of sports of the USSR.

Vasilenko Ivan is a Russian Soviet writer. He was born on  the 8  of January  in 1895 in Taganrog.He worked in the Taganrog bank.He became a writer in 39.

Many works of the writer are transferred to the Czech, German, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian, French, English languages.

His  works "Asterisk", "Artyomka in Circus", "Magic Casket“ were film versioned.

Nowadays the surveys of the future film about the occupation during the Second World War have being held in Taganrog. Some times ago there was a casting of actors for the film among the citizens of Taganrog. We can’t exclude that in a few years these people will become famous.

I am a citizen of Taganrog and I am very glad to live there. Because it is a very beautiful town and has a very long and interesting history.
