The BEATLESСлайд 2
The Beatles were a pop and rock group from Liverpool, England. The band are recognized for leading the mid-1960s musical "British Invasion" into the United States. Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and homegrown skiffle . Their clothes, styles, and statements made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.The Beatles are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. In June 1965, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appointed the four Beatles Members of the Order of the British Empire. One of the biggest musical acts in history, The Beatles were John Lennon (guitar), George Harrison (guitar), Paul McCartney (bass) and Ringo Starr (drums). Lennon and McCartney began playing together in The Quarrymen in 1957; Harrison joined later that year. Before they became The Beatles, they were also Johnny and the Moondogs and The Silver Beatles. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were The Beatles. Eight months later Paul had a suggestion for a new recruit. Three years their junior, George Harrison was nonetheless a wizard on the guitar. John was hesitant to allow such a young person into the band, but George won him over. Two weeks before his 15th birthday, George officially became a member of the band. I don’t know about you, but my fifteenth birthday wasn’t nearly as productive as his…The band was one that was worthy of the attention that they earned and Beatlemania was something that everyone during the sixties knew a little something about. They were the English rock group from Liverpool that would sing their way into cities and countries around the globe. They were the band that member John Lennon even said would’ve never been if "there had never been an Elvis" even going as far as stating at the time that if "there hadn’t been an Elvis, there wouldn’t have been a Beatles." In the UK, The Beatles released over forty singles, albums that hit number one. Their record company at the time estimated that by 1985, over one billion Beatles albums, discs and tapes had been sold. In the US alone, The Beatles became known as the best selling musical act ever and they likely still hold that record. Their story is inspiring, sparking many to get up out of their chairs and try something new. The Beatles pioneered so much in their short time together, changing the world for generations to come. The final live Beatles performance was in January of 1969. It took place on the top of what is now known as the Apple Building. The last paying concert that the Beatles performed was in April of 1966 in San Francisco. Their final live performance was on the rooftop of the Apple building at 3 Savile Row, London, on 30 January 1969, the next-to-last day of the difficult sessions for what eventually became the Let It Be album, along with assistant engineer Alan Parsons.[93] Most of the performance was filmed and later included in the film Let It Be. While the band was playing, the local police were called because of complaints about the noise. Although the group was simply asked to end their performance, the band members later remarked in the Anthology video that they were disappointed they were not arrested – pointing out that the police hauling the band members off in handcuffs would have been "an appropriate ending" for the film. Today, two Beatles members are alive and well. Ringo Star and Paul McCartney are still living. John Lennon died in 1981. John Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman on 8 December 1980 in New York City. In May 1981, George Harrison released "All Those Years Ago"; a single written about Harrison's time with The Beatles. It was recorded the month before Lennon's death, with Starr on drums, and was later overdubbed with new lyrics as a tribute to Lennon. Paul and Linda McCartney later contributed backing vocals to the track. And George Harrison died twenty years later in 2001.

John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England, to Alfred Lennon and Julia Stanley Lennon. Early in his life he suffered the loss of both his parents, when his father left the family to become a seaman, and his mother, unable to care for a child on her own, decided to leave him in the hands of his aunt, Mimi. This early feeling of abandonment was to mark John for the rest of his life, and his fear of rejection can be heard in his lyrics, from his early work with The Beatles, all the way up to his pleading 1970's track "Mother/. With his aunt, Lennon experienced a quiet and undisturbed working class upbringing, that left him with many happy memories. Some of these would later result in some of his best work .(Strawberry fields forever, the masterpiece single released before Sgt. Pepper was based upon his childhood recollections of happiness). Ever since his early childhood his artistic side found a way up to the surface of his personality and young Lennon began to express himself through sketches and artwork. A few of his teachers were impressed with his work, and suggested The Liverpool art school for the boy. Although John Lennon was (even by his own admission) a "child genious ", he decided for this option, over a regular academic schedule. During this period, at fifteen years of age, John met Paul Mc Cartney , at a Wooton Parish Garden Fete. The result of their conjoined musical talents was a band called "The Quarrymen", named after Quarry Banks, the school that they attended. Years later this band would become the greatest musical influence of recent recording history, and would define an entire generation. This would be under another name, though:: The Beatles. At age 18, John's life underwent a drastic change, when, shortly after having reunited with his son, Julia Stanley Lennon, died. She was hit by a bus driven by an off -duty policeman in Liverpool. Lennon never fully recovered from the loss of his mother, and he continued to seek for her love in most of the women he met, finally finding comfort in the person of Yoko Ono, many years later. In the meantime, he met a fellow student, Cynthia Powell, and in spite of their many differences, they soon became romantically involved. In 1959, he left his natal Liverpool for Hamburg, Germany, along with Paul Mc Cartney , guitarist George Harrison, longtime friend Stuart Satcliffe and drummer Pete Best. Their objective was to have a shot at fame and fortune in Hamburg's music scene. It was during this trip that he and his fellow bandmates met Astrid Kircher and Klaus Voorman ; she, a visionary photographer who would document The Beatles' transition from Liverpool lads to full grown musicians, and would suggest the now legendary " moptop " image. The later, was to become John's close friend, and later play bass on many of his solo projects. John married Yoko in March 20th 1969. , in Gibraltar. In the years to come, she would be accused of creating tension between the Beatles, and ultimately forcing John away from the group, thus inciting to their 1970 break up. They became close collaborators, not only artistically or music, but also as peace promoters. They staged "bed-ins" during their honeymoon in Amsterdam; elaborate press conferences conducted from their honeymoon suite, that centered on their peace efforts. The plans of a follow up album were cut drastically short, as so was his life. In December 8, 1980, in front of his NYC home, he was shot down by Mark David Chapman and died instantly.

Ringo Starr Born : 7 July 1940 Birthplace : Liverpool , England Best Known As: The drummer for The Beatles Name at birth: Richard Starkey Ringo Starr played drums with Rory Storm and The Hurricanes from 1959 until 1962, when he replaced Pete Best permanently as a member of The Beatles. Together with John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney , Ringo became world famous. Musically he was known for steadiness rather than flash, and his jolly, guileless image helped him launch an acting career. After The Beatles broke up, Ringo had a solo recording career, releasing hits such as "It Don't Come Easy" and "Photograph." He also starred in movies, including The Magic Christian (1969) and 200 Motels (1971). In 1988 he was nominated for an Emmy for his role in the children's television show Shining Time Station . Since 1990 Starr has occasionally performed and recorded with Ringo And The All-Starr Band, which sometimes included his son, Zach Starkey. Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, was the drummer in the Beatles from 1962 to 1970 and thus one of the most famous musicians of the '60s. Though the least prominent member of the quartet, he distinguished himself as an occasional singer of good-natured material and as an actor. Upon the group's split, Starr went solo with two novelty projects: the first, an album called Sentimental Journey, found him covering pre-rock standards, and the second, Beaucoups of Blues, was a country music collection. In 2002 Starr was inducted into the Percussive Hall of Fame joining the elite group of percussive inductees. On November 29, 2002, Starr performed "Photograph" and a cover of Carl Perkins' "Honey Don't" at the Concert For George held in the Royal Albert Hall, London, on the first anniversary of Harrison's death. According to the official website, " Ringo Starr caught everyone with a tear in their eye with a rendition of 'Photograph', a composition he wrote with George, which seemed to sum up how everyone felt." The song includes the lines, "Every time I see your face / it reminds me of the places we used to go / But all I've got is a photograph / and I realize you're not coming back anymore". Starr toured again in mid-2006, with an All-Starr Band featuring Sheila E. on percussion, bassist Hamish Stuart (formerly of the Average White Band and Paul McCartney's touring band), and Edgar Winter. The tour was underway on Ringo's 66th birthday, 7 July 2006, when the All-Starr Band performed in Clearwater, Florida. Starr appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Lenn on 20 June 2006. He sang two songs; "What Goes On" from Rubber Soul and "With a Little Help from My Friends" from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band . In June 2007 the newest studio album of Ringo Starr was expected, produced by Dave Stewart, Mark Hudson and Ringo himself and titled Liverpool 8 . However, the release has now been pushed back to the beginning of 2008, Mark Hudson started out producing the record but was replaced by Stewart after a falling out with Ringo . Starr's attorney Bruce Grakal told journalist Peter Palmiere that the partnership between Hudson and Ringo was over and they would never work together again. This happened after Hudson dropped out of the 2006 tour as musical director to do the TV show "The one: Making A Music Star". Hudson now claims that the split was over Ringo's insistence to use synthesized sounds of which Stewart is known for whereas Mark wanted real guitars, pianos, strings etc.

Sir James Paul McCartney , MBE (born 18 June 1942) is a British singer, musician, composer, producer and animal rights activist who first came to prominence as a member of The Beatles. He is recognized as one of the musical icons of the twentieth century, and his songs (such as "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be") are frequently ranked among the best songs in popular music history. He is a Roman Catholic. Early years He was born at Walton Hospital, located in northern Liverpool near his teenage home, where his mother had worked as a nurse, and where his brother, Michael McCartney, was born a year later. His father, Jim, was a professional trumpet player and gave the young Paul a vital early grounding in music. The early death of his mother Mary from breast cancer when he was fourteen was a formative influence on his life and created an additional bond between him and John Lennon, whose mother had also died young. On March 11, 1997, McCartney was created a Knight by Queen Elizabeth II, and was subsequently known as Sir Paul McCartney.Paul McCartney claims Irish heritage on both sides of his family. Paul's great-grandfather, James McCartney, and possibly also his grandfather, James McCartney II, were born in Ireland. His mother's father, Owen Mohin , was born in 1880 in Tullynamalrow , County Monaghan. McCartney then decided to give another genre a try, and in 2001 he published Blackbird Singing, a volume of poetry. Some of these were lyrics to past songs, while some were strictly poems. He gave readings of these works in Liverpool and New York; the selections were both serious (Here Today, about John Lennon) and humourous (Maxwell's Silver Hammer).

George Harrison was born in Liverpool on the 25th of February 1943 (later he said he found out his birthday was really on the 24th). His father Harold was a bus driver and his mother Louise was a housewife. George's first house was a little "two up, two down" house 12 Arnold Grove, Wavertree . It was rather cramped for George , his parents, his two brothers Harold and Peter and his sister Louise , but in 1950 (after being 18 years on the waiting list) the family finally got a new council house at 25 Upton Green, Speke . They moved there the day after New Year's Day 1950. George attended Dovedale Primary school, two forms behind John Lennon . At first he was a good enough scholar to pass the eleven-plus examination and go to the Liverpool Institute (the city's best high school for boys), but once in the school he began to lose interest in his lessons and failed his exams. He was also very rebellious and started wearing tight drainpipe trousers and growing his hair as long as he could, against the school's "short hair" regulations. Paul McCartney went to the same school as George (one form above) and he took the same bus as George to school. They met each other on the bus and soon found out they were both into music, so Paul introduced George to John Lennon , of whose band The Quarry Men he was a member. At first George was considered too young to join the group, but he kept hanging around with them and following them to all their party engagements so he finally became a member of the band. By the end of 1965 George was already beginning to get very interested in Indian music and culture. George Harrison died in 2001.
