All children in the world love cartoons. Children who speak Russian and English languages have their own legends. Mickey Mouse has become an American people’s idol, and Cheburashka has become a Russian’s favourite . These two legends of from different continents turned out to be very similar.

Mickey Mouse is a symbol of Walt Disney’s company and American’s culture. Mickey came into the world 84 years ago in the year 1928. His creator couldn’t imagine that Mickey would become the American legend. At first Mickey looked different from how we used to imagine him now. And his name wasn’t Mickey, but Mortimer. But Disney’s wife Lillian didn’t like this name and she offered the name Mickey Mouse. Ub Iwerks , the main animator of the Disney’s studio, drew him.

For all his life Walt Disney was afraid of mice. There were a lot of them in the garage-studio where he worked at first. But it was a mouse that made him world-famous. In the 30-s 87 cartoons were shot with Mickey in the key role. Walt Disney’s fantasy was inexhaustible. Mickey managed to be a fire-man, a conductor, a detective, a vendor and even a magic hero, saving a Princess from an ogre. In 1932 Disney got the deserved award – his first «Oscar» for the cartoon from the series «Silly Symphonies».

It’s a part of the brand. Now Mickey Mouse is the symbol of the USA, the same as the Statue of Liberty. Since 1955 he has lived in «Disneyland Park», and in 1978 he got his own star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has got his own TV show and fan club, he continues to bring «The Walt Disney Company» billions of dollars annually.

Cheburashka is the hero of the book written by the person no less talented than Disney. Cheburashka was created by Eduard Uspensky in his book « Gena the Crocodile and his friends». In 1969 a famous animated film « Gena the Crocodile» appeared on the screen after 41 years after the appearance of Mickey. So two legends won the one big screen.

He had big yellow eyes like an owl, a round head like a hair and short and fluffy tail like little bears. In the book it is told that Cheburashka is an unknown creature, who lives in hot tropical forests. Child’s toys of Eduard Uspensky are also the heroes of the cartoon.
