Levitan Issak Ilych . Levitan Issak Ilich was born on the 30th of A ugust in 1860 and died on the 4th of August in 1900 . He was a R ussian artist, master of «mood landscape». The end of the 1880th - the beginning of the 1890 th is the most fruitful moment in Levitan's creative life. At this time the artist made some trips to Volga where he gained impressions and creative energy for creation of his greatest works.

The description of the picture « Summer evening. The river » . One of the greatest pictures of Levitan is «Summer evening. The river» . I t was painted in 1890-1896. This picture is an art generalization of feelings of a great artist from relations with a great river. We can see quiet smooth of wide, deep and great river. The picture is full of feeling of the rivers scope, cool freshness of air, feeling of freedom and flight. The sky is before sunset. It is a peaceful and bringing of peace. The distant bank is described very beautifully with its green hills which are covered with picturesque groves.

The hills and the sky, which only starts to darken, are reflected in the water mirror. The sun is still high over the horizon and the sunlight, which gently floods, colours all landscape with its blinking. There is not any very bright colours , but the picture is expressive and emotional. We can feel the spiritual grief of the author and the request to plunge into pacifying silence and quiet.
