For thousand of years the Earth has given support to all forms of life – human beings, animals, birds, fishes, insects and plants.
But now human beings are killing the planet
Millions of animals and birds have disappeared because man has polluted their natural homes by litter and wastes
The country air, once clean and fresh, now is polluted by power stations and factories
All over the world the forests are disappearing. People cut the trees down because they need wood and paper or new places for farms, houses and roads
Even if new trees are planted, it takes many years for them to grow
We live among litter and wastes which we have created ourselves – fumes of cars, throwaway packaging, etc.
These are some of the most serious environmental problems. And they are getting worse all the time! What will happen if we don’t try to solve them? … the scientists’ predictions are alarming….
Let’s save our planet!

Education in the USA America pays great attention to its system of education. Universal access to quality education has been one of the nation’s historic goals. In 1865 education became available to all.
The American system of school education differs from the systems in other countries. The peculiar feature of American education is the absence of national administration. Each of the 50 states controls and directs its own schools
S chools in the USA There are state public schools, private elementary schools and private secondary schools.
Most students attend public schools. These schools are run by the government of a city. The citizens of the city pay taxes to pay for the school buildings, teachers’ salaries and equipment. Public schools are usually large.
Private elementary school American children start school at the age of five. The first year at school is called kindergarten.
Private elementary school The second year at school is considered the first year of primary school and is called the first grade.
Private secondary school Primary school most commonly consists of five years of education. After the fifth grade (the last year of a primary school), American children go to the next level of the American education system - to a secondary school.
Private secondary school Secondary school most commonly consists of seven years study ( sixth -twelfth grades). The ninth - twelfth grades are called a high school. After graduating from the twelfth grade, American students are get a certificate called the high school diploma and they can continue their education in collages or universities.
The system of education in the USA is one of the best in the world. Try to learn more about it, it will be interesting and useful!

People can hardly imagine their lives without modern technologies nowadays. It is almost impossible to go out without a mobile phone or an MP3 player, for example. These devices have become an important part of our life .
The era of robots is approaching.
These mechanical agents were created to help people with hazardous work and daily chores. And, indeed, they are capable of doing many things. They can perform any operations, according to the program installed in them.
For example, they can help with the laundry, do preparatory work for cooking meals, answer the phone, pick up objects, and even deal with radioactive substances. If we think over this issue, we will realize that we have already robots at our houses. They don’t only come in the shape of an electronic man, they are also regarded as automatic machines for performing various work.
In my opinion, technological progress has made our lives more interesting and bright. Thanks to computers and Internet I find more educational resources. Such electronic items as vacuum-cleaner, washing machine, microwave, dish washer, blender and some others have made our life easier.
Perhaps, every house will have at least one robot to provide help with a repetitive, boring work. Other than that, robots can be exploited to do the most difficult and dangerous things. They are already sent to explore other planets or to explore deep underwater. They are used in factories to build cars and other electronics.
In my opinion, the future of scientific progress is impossible without robots. I’m sure that humanoid robots with Artificial Intelligence will be used by new advanced generations.

Australia is one of the biggest countries in the world. Besides, it’s the only country, which is also a continent. For many other world countries Australia is a remote land to visit, nevertheless, millions of people gladly fly there to see its places of interest.
Capital city is Canberra
Area – 7 692 024
Official language - English
Population – 22.7 millions
People cannot live where there is no water, and so most of people in Australia live in the richer south-east. The first Australian people were dark-skinned Aborigines, and though the coming of the white settlers destroyed their tribal lives, some sixty thousand still survive in Australia today. Their account for about 1 percent of the population. They may be found in the island areas of the country. Some live in modern cities but it is not really easy for them. They have to fight for their rights. The first Europeans to land in this country were Dutch sailors.
Today Australia is an independent federative state consisting of 6 states and 2 territories. It is a member of the Commonwealth headed by the British Queen.

This is symbol of the Russian Federation
The president is the head of Russia
The Russian Federation is a Presidential (or a constitutional) republic. The President is the head of the state and is elected directly by the people. In fact he has much power, he controls all the three branches of power. The President can even dissolve the Duma if he doesn't agree with his suggestions three times running. The President has his administration, but it's not part of the Federal Government. The President is involved in the work of the legislative and executive branches.
The Federal Assembly represents the Legislative branch of power. It's made up of the two houses: the Federation Council and the State Duma, which make laws. The Federal Assembly is also called the Parliament, but it's not its official name. Both chambers are headed by chairmen sometimes called speakers. The Duma consists of 450 deputies (one half is elected personal the population, and the other half consists of the deputies who are appointed by their parties after voting).
The Federal Government represents the executive branch of power. The President appoints its head, the Chairman of the Government, but the Duma must approve his appointment.
The F ederation Council and the Duma make laws

Very often we have an opinion about a person simply because that person belongs to a certain group of people: young or old, men or women, Americans or C hinese. Such opinions are called stereotypes. If you have a stereotype, you think that all people in a group think, act and look the same. But this is not true. In every group people are different. If we have stereotypes, we may treat people unfairly.
Nowadays many people have stereotypes about older people. People think that elderly people are weak, unhappy, ugly and helpless. These stereotypes hurt elderly people. Old people are as different as young ones in their talents, skills and abilities. They often work and they help their children and grandchildren. They travel and do sport. They can give young people good advice and tell them exciting stories.
Many people have stereotype that people with disabilities are weak, unhappy, unfriendly and helpless. Really, they cannot do certain things, including seeing, hearing or walking. But these people have other abilities and talents. Johann Sebastian Bach, Albert Einstein and Agatha Christie were all people with disabilities. But they could still do great things.
PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE STRONG!

GREAT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH During his lifetime, Bach wrote more than 1,000 pieces .
In 1796, at the height of world fame, the composer began to suffer from progressive hearing loss. Several years passed, and Ludwig van Beethoven completely lost the ability to perceive sounds. However, it was from this time that the most famous works of the author's symphony began to appear. Ludwig van Beethoven is a legendary German classical music author.
ALBERT EINSTEIN Theoretical physicist, one of the founders of modern theoretical physics, N obel prize winner in physics in 1921. Einstein - the author of over 300 scientific papers on physics, as well as about 150 books and articles on the history and philosophy of science, journalism, etc.
Agatha C hristie British novelist. Belongs to the world's most famous writers of detective fiction, and is one of the most published. Christy published more than 60 detective novels, six psychological novels and 19 collections of short stories. 16 of her plays have been produced in L ondon.
Alexey Maresiev Pilot Alexey Maresiev , whose story was written in "A Tale of a Real Man", all his life was very active and fought for the rights of disabled people. He is one of the few who passed the medical commission after amputation and began to fly with prostheses. After the war, Maresiev traveled a lot and became an honorary citizen of many cities. He has become living proof that circumstances can be overcome
Stephen Hawking When Stephen was 21 years old, doctors diagnosed him with paralysis and told him that he had two years to live. However, the guy did not give up and not only continued to read a lot, but became one of the most famous theoretical physicists of the time. In 1985, he lost the ability to speak, but that didn't stop him.
Nick Vuichich This young man was born with a very rare disease called tetra-Amelia syndrome. But even this severe limitation of his physical abilities did not make Nick stop, on the contrary, people draw inspiration from his activities: he wrote a book about the fact that it is possible to feel happy in this life in spite of everything, and that nothing is impossible. Today, trying to help others, he conducts motivational conversations and seminars.
Louis Braille Because of a ridiculous accident, he lost his sight and created an alphabet for the blind . In 1829, Louis Braille developed the relief type used all over the world. In addition to letters and numbers, he developed music signs for the blind.
the famous American blind musician, author of more than 70 studio albums, one of the world's most famous performers of music in the styles of soul, jazz and rhythm and blues, 17 times was awarded the Grammy Awards, entered the halls of fame of rock and roll, jazz, country and blues, his recordings were included in the Library of Congress. He went blind as a child. Ray Charles
Rules of behaviour and talking to people with disabilities First, use words that focus on the person’s individuality, not his/ her disability. Instead of “the disabled”, say “people with disabilities”. Don’t say “the deaf”, say “people who are deaf”. Second, never use words that show pity or fear of people with disabilities, and never use the word “normal” in contrast. Never use the words “victim” or “sufferer” to name person who has a disability or disease. for example, instead of saying “a victim of AIDS” or “an AIDS sufferer”, say “a person with AIDS”.

An extreme sport is a popular term for certain activities perceived as having a high level of inherent danger, and that are counter-cultural. These activities often involve speed, height, a high level of physical exertion, and highly specialized gear or spectacular stunts.
Snowboarding
Snowboarding is the fastest growing winter sport and is set to become even more popular than skiing. It is one of the most popular winter sports. Now it is included in the Olympic Games. Also it is a style of life, with its own equipment, music and clothes and even language. The only thing skiing has in common with snowboarding is the snow, says one snowboarding fan. A snowboard looks like a big skateboard without wheels. The most difficult thing is to keep balance
Snowboarding is especially popular with teenagers and students. They think that snowboarding is for teenagers and skiing is for old people.
Surfing
Surfing is a modern and fashionable sport but it is not so young as many people think. The first surfers were Hawaiians, and the first surfboards weighed about 70 kg. Perhaps, the first Europeans who knew about this activity were the sailors of Captain Cook in 1770s. Nowadays there are different styles of surfing and surfboards too. For example, a sportsman rides on a short flexible board lying on his or her stomach which is not very popular now. Board can be short (about 180 cm) or long (to 3 m)
Surfers wear special equipment in cold water: wetsuits, boots, hoods, and gloves to protect them against lower water temperatures. Wetsuits are very important in hot weather too, because sportsmen spend a lot of time in the sun. Surfing can be also dangerous because of sea animals which are poisonous very often .
BASE jumping
Base jumping is an acronym of the words Building (B), Antenna (A), Span (S) and Earth (E). It is a list of main objects that B.A.S.E. jumpers jump of. These sportsmen are called jumpers or basers . It is one of the most dangerous sports. Basers use only one parachute, because it takes them less than one minute for a jump. They use a smaller parachute then skydivers, special boots and a helmet.
In the most number of countries BASE jumping is forbidden. In Russia it is allowed but you must have a permission to enter the object. Since 1981 one hundred twenty two deaths have been registered among basers .
Street racing
Street racing is a form of unsanctioned and illegal auto racing which takes place on public roads. At night racers meet on long avenues and streets and start racing. Only two cars take part in one racing. Excitement is very important for racers. It is a dangerous type of sport because racers can have an accident with cars on the road.
They have very powerful cars and engine. Racers use such equipment as a helmet and GPS. They like to compete at night, it gives them more adrenalin. For most of them it is a style of life.
Do not try this !!!!! It’s dangerous and needs special training!
