Тема: “A Glimpse of Great Britain.”

Цели:

- обеспечить условия для активизации лексического материала по теме; создавать условия для тренировки и закрепления грамматического материала;

- способствовать развитию устной иноязычной речи; навыков аудирования;

- создавать условия для формирования устойчивой положительной мотивации к изучению иностранного языка, активизации познавательной деятельности обучающихся.

Вид занятия: практическое.

Оснащение: компьютер, грамматические таблицы, электронная презентация, раздаточный материал, текст.

Квалификационные требования: ОК.1, 2, 4, 9

Х О Д    З А Н Я Т И Я

I. Организационный момент: 

– Good morning, students. Take your seats, please. Who is on duty today? What date is it today? What day is it today? Is anybody absent? How are you? I’m glad to hear it. Let’s start our lesson then.

II. Основная часть занятия.

1.  (Фонетическая зарядка)

– Let’s have a phonetic drill. Say after me, please: Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England, Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff, London, the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the Irish Sea, consists of, is washed by, is situated, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, London Bridge, the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral,

Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar square, the Thames.

Can you guess the topic of our lesson now? Yes, it is Great Britain. “A Glimpse of Great Britain.”

- So, I have listened to you and now I’d like to tell you about some sights in London.

London

London is the capital of Great Britain. Its political, economic and cultural centre. It is one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 11 million people. London is situated on the river Thames. The city is very old, famous and beautiful. It was founded more than 2000 years ago.

London is divided into 4 parts: the City, the East End, the West End and Westminster.  The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business centre. Westminster is the most important part of the capital. It's the administrative centre. The Houses of Parliament are there.  In the West End there are lots of big shops, hotels, museums, art galleries, theatres and concert halls. In the West End there are wide streets with beautiful houses and many parks, gardens and squares. To the east of Westminster is the East End, an industrial district of the capital. Most of plants and factories are situated there.

London has many places of interest. One of them is Buckingham Palace. It's the residence of the Queen. The English are proud of Trafalgar Square, which was named in memory of the victory at the battle.

Big Ben is really the bell which strikes every quarter of an hour. Tower of London was founded hundreds years ago. It was a royal residence, a prison and now it’s a museum.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is the most famous church in London. The architect was Sir Christopher Wren. The famous Whispering Gallery is situated here.
