Проект «THE ECOLOGY OF OUR PLANET»

Цель проекта: рассказать об экологических проблемах.

Задачи:

- активизировать лексико-грамматические навыки по теме,

- развивать речевые умения,

- повысить интерес к изучаемому языку,

- воспитывать уважительное отношение к природе.

Ход выступления.

СЛАЙД 1

My name is Victoria Markina. The topic of my project is «The ecology of our planet».

СЛАЙД 2

Ecology is a scientific branch which studies interactions between organisms and their environment. The word «Ecology» comes from the Greek language and means «the study of the place we live in». The Earth is the only planet in the solar system where there is life. It is home to various kinds of plant and animal species. For centuries people lived in harmony with their environment until industrialization began.

Nowadays our ecology becomes worse and worse. There are a lot of ecological problems. The most serious environmental problems are: air pollution, water pollution, acid rains, wildlife extinction etc.

Air pollution is one of the most important and urgent problems. It is mostly caused by transport and factory fumes, which gradually destroy the ozone layer. Ultraviolet radiation from the sun can cause a skin cancer.

СЛАЙД 5

Water pollution also leads to numerous problems in natural environment. Water is everywhere, but there is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. A lot of rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can’t live in them. People can’t drink this water.

Wildlife extinction is no less acute. Many species of animals in the world are in danger nowadays. For example, the blue whale, and the African elephant. The only solution of this problem is wildlife conservation. It means opening more national parks, planting more new forests, and cutting down on industrial pollution.

Deforestation is very dangerous for the environment as well. Plants «breathe on» carbon dioxide and «breathe out» life-giving oxygen. They support life on our planet. But people destruct wildlife, cut down trees to make furniture.

СЛАЙД 8

Global warming has recently become a real threat. It is the rise in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans which brings tangible changes into the world’s climate.  Carbon dioxide creates green house effect.

СЛАЙД 9

Nowadays there are a lot of communities concerned about the state of the environment. The main task of these organizations is to preserve the environment.

Greenpeace is fighting against nuclear tests, pollution of the sea and the transport of toxic waste. WWF (World Wide Fund) protects wildlife.

СЛАЙД 10

People have to think about ecological problems if they want to survive.

To my mind they should:

-plant more trees to make our country green;

-help animals to survive;

-clean rivers and lakes;

-feed animals in cold weather;

-make laws to control pollution.
