SPACE IS OUR FUTURE

Мини-проект с тезисной аннотацией на английском языке на тему "Космос".

It is a short-term project for 3 weeks.

Our planet is just a part of an unified system. It is not far off the day when the solar activity on the Earth will reach its limits due to lack of protection of the ozone layer, natural resources come to naught, the glaciers will melt and flood the land… This is a global problem, which should be solved by leading scientists around the world. It is an international problem and we cannot go without the English language.

Our students, perhaps scientists in the future, will find the solution to the problems mentioned above. Thus, exploration of space is extremely important nowadays. Therefore, the targets of the project are as follows:

-         To expand the knowledge of space and enrich the vocabulary by way of technical terms

-         To increase the motivation to study English by way of interesting quizzes related to the space theme.

-         To increase youth patriotism by presenting outstanding achievements of the Russian scientists that have practical value for the whole world.

To achieve the targets stated above it is necessary to solve several problems such as:

-         To define the students’ knowledge on the topic “What do you know about space?”

-         To get the students interested in the space science by way of interesting quizzes.

-         To solve the value of space exploration for a human-being. (video will be displayed).

-         To divide the students of my class into groups to prepare presentations related to the space topics.

-         To select the necessary technical terms related to the space topics.

-         To select the most interesting information and submit a presentation to the classmates within a defined topic (each lesson the students present their projects within a topic defined previously).

-         To evaluate the significance and the necessity of the terms used in different presentations.

-         To create space thesaurus. The thesaurus will be designed in the form of a booklet.

-         To summarize and define all the received knowledge and their practical significance.

Thanks to my research, the students improved their knowledge on space topics, expanded their vocabulary and trained their communicative and auditive skills.

At the end of my project, the students were invited to watch the popular documentary “Universe. 7 Wonders of the Solar System”. While watching the movie they came across with the familiar terms that increased their understanding.

The following resources were used to create the project:

-         Labour resources (students, teacher)

-         Material resources (audio/video equipment, printer, projection device)

-         Informative resources (internet)
