Презентации на тему The Famous Scientists были разработаны учащимися 5"А" и 5"Б" классов Гимназии № 1404 "Гамма" (Бабаян Н., Богданов К., Груздева П., Кот А., Лаврищева А., Набиева Эл., Степанов М., Сугробова М.) в 2013 уч.г. Представленные презентации легли в основу урока-проекта по теме So many Countries, so many Customs по УМК для 5 класса "Английский язык" ( И.Н.Верещагина, О.В.Афанасьева). В конце урока учащиеся отвечали на вопросы теста (презентация).

Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov was born on the 19 th of November in 1711 in Kholmogory. This settlement was near the city of Arkhanglesk.

Lomonosov was the son of a poor fisherman. At the age of 10 he took up that line of work. His ambition was to educate himself to join the learned men on whom the tsar Peter I the Great was calling to transform Russia into a modern nation.

In December 1730, he left his native village for Moscow. He started to study at the age of 19.

In order to be admitted to the Slavonic–Greek–Latin Academy he had to conceal his humble origin; the sons of nobles jeered at him, and he had scarcely enough money for food and clothes .

Mikhail Lomonosov was great Russian poet, scientist, and grammarian who considered the first great Russian linguistic reformer.

Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov made substantial contributions to the natural sciences, reorganized the St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of Sciences, established in Moscow the university that today bears his name, and created the first coloured glass mosaics in Russia.

In 1748 the laboratory that Lomonosov had been requesting since 1745 was granted him. His theoretical works on electricity in 1753 and 1756 also matured in this laboratory.

M. V. Lomonosov became the first Russian Academician at the age of 19. He founded Moscow University in 1755. Moscow State University was renamed ‘’M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University’’ in his honor in 1940.

The publication of his Polnoye sobraniye sochineny (“Complete Works”) in 1950–83 by Soviet scholars has revealed the full contributions of Lomonosov, who has long been misunderstood by historians of science.

A lunar crater bears his name, as does a crater on Mars. In 1948, the underwater Lomonosov Ridge in the Arctic Ocean was named in his honor.

On the 1 st of September in 1941 he went to school, but on the 12 th of October the village was occupied by the Germans, and his studies were interrupted. The monument : sculptor is P.Bondarenko; architects are JB Belopol'skii, FM Gazhevsky; designer is AF Sudakov. The height of the monument is 42.5 m, and weight is 12 tons. Copy of the landing vehicle "Vostok" is at the foot of the monument.
