Basic information T he Taganrog state radio engineering University named after Kalmykov - Russian University in the city of Taganrog of Rostov region. Established in 1993 on the basis of the Taganrog radio engineering Institute.
The History of the creation of the TRI W as established in 1952 as the Taganrog radio engineering Institute (TRI) (Stalin's order about the establishment of the Institute was signed in 1951). F aculties - REF (radio engineering faculty), FMEE (Faculty of microelectronics and electronic equipment), FACE (Faculty of automation and computer engineering).
F rom 1 January 2007, it became a member of the southern Federal University (Rostov-on-don) under the name of Taganrog Institute of technology. The rector of the SFU on the 5 of December in 2006 it was appointed rector of TRI Zakharevich. I n 2012 University eliminated as an independent institution. The faculties of the ex-TTI included in the composition of the southern Federal University under the name of «Taganrog SFU campus».

The well-Known graduates and employees Kozyrev, Evgeny Nikolaevich (1936) – is a Soviet and Russian scientist-electronic engineer, an inventor, a head of chair of «Electronic devices», a doctor of technical Sciences, an academician of the Russian Academy of natural Sciences, a Hero of Socialist Labour. Butenko, Viktor Ivanovich (1946) - is a Professor, a doctor of technical Sciences, a head of the Department of mechanics. Vetrov, Vladislav Vladimirovich (1964) – is an actor of theater and cinema, the Honoured artist of Russia. Visocovskii, Zinovy Moiseevich (1933-2009) - was the Soviet and Russian theatre and film actor, entertainer. Honored artist of the RSFSR (1978), people's artist of Russia. Kalyaev, Anatoly Vasilievich (1922-2004) – was a Russian scientist, an academician of the RAS, corresponding member of the RAS, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labour.
Prasolov, Vladimir Alexandrovich (1963) - is a mayor of Taganrog (2012). Timoshenko, Vladimir Ivanovich (1938) - is a Soviet Russian scientist, laureate of the State prize of the USSR in the field of science (1985), a doctor of technical Sciences (1975), a Professor (1978). Shahverdiev, Tofik Rzakulevich (1938) is a Russian film Director. Kalyanov, Alexander Ivanovich (born. 1947) – is a Soviet and Russian sound, pop singer, composer, arranger, producer .

The Polytechnic Museum O n September 12, 2002, the Day of celebrating of the 50 anniversary of TRI, in the case of «B» was solemnly opened Polytechnic Museum of Taganrog University of radio engineering. Taganrog Polytechnic Museum, one of the first was invited to the Association of scientific - technical museums of the country of the Russian Committee of ICOM, and its Creator and Director Oleg Nabokov was elected to the leadership of this organization.
Gallery «Piter» T he official status of the University of the gallery was received gallery «Piter» in 1996, the efforts of Professor V. I. Timoshenko. Unofficially there was a gallery at the Department of hydroacoustics RDIRDT since the mid-1980s. Monthly in the gallery «Piter» there are exhibitions, concerts, performances of artists, exhibited private collections. Interesting facts T en young radio-engineers from the first issue of Taganrog radio engineering Institute in 1956 were «occupied» by the General designer of the Soviet space ships Sergei Korolev to work on the space programme of the USSR and implement the works for the automatic control of spacecraft. One of them, Vladimir Karashtin (1934-2008) became later the Deputy General designer of Rocket-and-space Corporation «Energy», responsible for the technical preparation of start of a carrier rocket «Energia» and RTS (Reusable transport spaceship) «Energy-Buran». Vladimir Shevelev, one of the great dozens, participated in the creation of the system of control of a spacecraft «The Moon-2», which for the first time made a flight to the moon. Yuri Karpov became one of the founders of the direction, connected with a comprehensive development of control systems on-Board hardware. He took part in the technical provision of the first flight of Yuri Gagarin and deserved from him a special word of thanks. In commemoration of these facts in 2002, when University marking the 50th anniversary, the bronze statue of Yuri Gagarin and Sergei Korolev work of the sculptor O. K. Komov was installed in Taganrog on Chekhov street in front of housing «A» Taganrog radio engineering University .
I n 1961 in University, in the industrial laboratory Kolesov , the first in the USSR a semiconductor chip was created. This event attracted the attention of the scientific community of the country, and TRI was approved by the head in the system of the Ministry of higher education on the problem of creation of microelectronic equipment reliability and automation of its production. The same Kolesov was appointed Chairman of the Coordination Council on this issue.

3. Taganrog radioengineering institute was founded in 1951. It was reorganized it 1993 into radioengineering University.
4. The factory manager of «Прибой» Genady Chernov made a request to Moscow to salve the problem with specialists. Beria was in charge of this field of industry.
In a month there was a commission to make a careful study of the situation in the plant. And at the end of 1951 there was a decision to create a radioengineering institute, which had to train people for radio industry. There were only 544 students and 43 teachers, some laboratories in 1952. But now there are more than 8000 students and a lot of faculties.
By 1954 there were 3 departments:
- Radio engineering
- Instrument making
- Radio electronic
And 28 chairs.
5. The number of departments and chairs changer year by year. More than 30500 specialists were educated there by 1992.
From the first of January in 2007, he became a member of the southern Federal University (Rostov-on-don) under the name of Taganrog Institute of technology. The rector of the SFU on the fifth of December in 2006 he was appointed rector of TRI Zakharevich.
In 2012 University eliminated as an independent institution. The faculties of the ex-TRI included in the composition of the southern Federal University under the name of «Taganrog SFU campus».
5 many-storied houses for students were built to live and to study there in Taganrog. 7 educational buildings were constructed. All of them are called the students’ town.

12. It was created by the designer O.K. Komov to the 50th anniversary of the institute. Because first 10 graduated people worked with S. Korolyov creating spaceships. And one of them Vladimir Karashtin, became then a vice of the general designer of the corporation «Energy».
Another, Vladimir Shevelev, took part in launching of spaceship «The Moon-2».
13. In 1961 a semiconductor chip was created in the University, in the industrial labOratory, for the first time in the USSR.
14. There is a monument to Korolyov and Gagarin in the students’ town.
