Для проведения внеклассного мероприятия Intellectual Marathon была выбрана игровая форма проведения, так как игра является одним из эффективных способов приобщения студентов к культуре стран изучаемого языка. Совместное проведение внеклассного мероприятия со студенткой Гончаренко В. и преподавателя иностранного языка Колтыковой Ю.Н. позволило снять "боязнь" и способствовало созданию благоприятной психологической атмосферы. Работа в командах способствовала формированию у студентов таких положительных качеств, как доброжелательность, ответственность, чувство взаимопомощи. Чувство равенства, атмосфера увлеченности дали возможность студентам преодолеть стеснительность, скованность, снять языковой барьер. Благодаря игре студенты расширили границы своих знаний в области географии, культуры, истории стран изучаемого языка.

Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку «Intellectual Marathon»
Форма проведения: игра-соревнование
Цель игры: развитие коммуникативной компетенции обучающихся, на основе применения усвоенного ранее лексико-грамматического материала в новых ситуациях общения, совершенствование навыков и умений устной речи (произношение, активизация фраз и речевых оборотов, умение устного активного речевого общения).
Задачи:
1. Образовательные: совершенствование умения полно и точно понимать текст; умение ориентироваться в лингвистических особенностях английского языка; умение анализировать отдельные места текста.
2. Развивающие: развитие навыков говорения, формирование и развитие учебно-организационных умений и навыков самостоятельной работы; развитие внимания, наблюдательности; развитие коммуникативных умений и навыков.
3. Воспитательные: воспитание толерантности, повышение мотивации к изучению иностранного языка, формирование адекватного отношения к образу жизни и нормам поведения в стране изучаемого языка.
Оформление кабинета: флаги англоязычных стран, карта Великобритании и Северной Ирландии, правила игры, квадрат с цифрами, перечень конкурсов.
Ход занятия
I. Организация начала занятия.
Teacher: Good afternoon, children! I’m very glad to see you here. Now we shall organize a competition called “Intellectual Marathon”. Two teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1 st team?
P1. I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Erudites”. Our motto is Enjoy English.
Teacher: Who is the captain of the 2 nd team?
P2. I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is “Optimists”. Our motto is Learn English.
Teacher: Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. I have invited a competent jury to count the point. The members of our jury are … Now my assistant is going to teach you how to play this game.
Assistant: The game has 8 contents, they are:
Teacher: Well, I wish you success. Be active, honest and helpful! Remember five steps to success: Order, Reserve, Industry, Cleanliness, Justice.
II. Основной этап.
Assistant: And now we come to the 1 st contest of the game called “The ABC game”. You’ll get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put the letters in right order, so as to get the name of the English-speaking country. You have 30 seconds at your disposal. Each team can get 5 points.

Assistant: And now we come the 2 nd contest which called “A magic 5”. Look at the square, each team will take turns in answering questions. You’ll choose any number “…”, it’s yout turn to start. Captains will have an opportunity to choose the number. You can get 5 points for the right answer.

Choose the right answer and show us the card. Each team can get 1 point for the right answer.
