The case in the hospital

In a city not far from Moscow there lived a boy Dima. He was ten years old, and for ten years doctors have been fighting for his life. Dima was born with a heart defect. He needed an expensive heart operation, but his family didn`t have that kind of money. Doctors could do nothing to help him, except to support the work of the heart.

One day, a new cardiac surgeon got a job in the hospital where Dima was lying.

 - Hello - entering the resident's office, the chief physician said. - Meet your new colleague.

- Hello - said a short guy, just behind the head doctor. - My name is Pyotr Semyonovich.

Everyone nodded to him in greeting.

- Chernov! - the chief physician shouted, calling a guy to him.

- Yes, Alexander Vladimirovich? - he said as he approached.

- Give Peter a little tour of the hospital. - he asked him.

- Of course, I will be happy. - the guy said with a smile.

After the head doctor left the resident's room the guy said:

- I'm Viktor Anatolyevich, but you can call me Viktor, - he introduced himself with a smile.

- Ok, then I'm just Peter to you.

- Let's go, I'll show you the cardiology department. –and he nodded his head in the direction of the door.

They were walking along the corridor, and Peter noticed a boy in the room to which the door was ajar. He was trying to reach for a glass of water. He had a lot of tubes coming out of his hands, and there were wires on his chest to track his heart.

- Wait for me here. - interrupting his story Victor said.

He entered that room and helped the boy to reach for a glass of water. He came out a couple of minutes later.

- Who is it? - Peter asked.

- This is Dima - closing the door to the boy's room, he answered.

- So young, how old is he? - walking and looking at the floor asked Peter.

- He's ten, but he's already had four clinical deaths, - Victor said sadly.

- What's wrong with him? - he asked.

- He has a heart defect, but it's hard to say what it is. Outwardly, everything seems normal, but his heart can stop at any moment. To somehow help him, you need to do an expensive operation, but his family does not have such money. And it won't be his turn for a free operation any time soon. - Victor explained thoughtfully.

Peter turned back to look in the direction of the boy's room.

- Hey! What are you doing? - turning around and looking at him, Victor asked.

- Nothing, really. Let's go.

A week passed, Peter had already settled into the new team and everything was going well. But one day, walking down the corridor, he met Victor running.

- Hey! What happened? - Peter asked excitedly.

- Dima had a clinical death last night, and he urgently needs to have an operation, or he will not survive-Victor answers him - Can you operate on him? "What is it?" he asks hopefully.

- Isn't that against the rules? He has to wait for his turn - asks Peter.

- Do you have at least one operation of the person who is in this queue today?

- No.

- So what? - Peter asked.

- All right, take him to the operating room, I'll be there in a minute.

The operation lasted more than three hours, there was little chance that he would survive this operation, but he survived.

Peter and Victor were standing at the window in Dima's room, and when they heard a rustle, they turned around.

- Hey - Dima said in a low voice, - What happened?

- Everything is fine, - Peter said with a smile.

- You'll be able to go home soon, - Victor said.

 And Dima smiled happily.
