H. K. Andersen fairy tale «The Little Mermaid».

In Andersen’s tragic tale «The Little Mermaid» the main character is a beautiful and dreamy little mermaid, who just turned 15 years.

The little mermaid is a girl with a human body, and the tail from a fish, instead of legs. Once there was a storm in the sea. During this storm she saved the prince. She really liked the prince, and she fell in love with him. She wanted to be with him very much. She gave the wicked witch her voice to have human feet, but there was one condition – if the prince fell in love with her, she would be alive, but if the prince didn’t love her, she would turn into sea foam. The prince loved her like a sister. He married another girl.

The fairy tale teaches sincerity, self-sacrifice, and devotion to love. The Little mermaid was kind and noble. She saved the prince and sacrificed her life for his happiness. We should respect the little mermaid. Not everyone will be able to sacrifice themselves in the name of love. I have read this tale many times, and each time I am inspired by her deed.
