Marshak IS A Talented Poet
Marshak was a talented poet
Who liked English so that
A lot of poems for children
Were written by him in Britain.
He walked and walked around it
And made some notes about it.
He sat and read in the library
And understood that he liked it.
I’m sure you know this poet
Because he is very noted.
Voronezh was his native town.
And we should be very proud
That such a remarkable man
Brought fame to our land.
And one day he came to Britain,
Where many of his poems were written.
And he showed the striking creation
That was worthy of great admiration.
He wanted the Russian children
To become acquainted with English ones.
He wanted us to like
“Mother Goose” and “Nursery Rhymes”.
You lived with him and his friends
In the house that Jack built then.
You took care about the Queen
That was seriously sick and ill.
Let’s remember three little kittens
That lost their pretty mittens.
And Humpty-Dumpty that sat on a wall
And, oh, what a pity, had a great fall.
Do you remember black sheep and its wool?
That had for a boy three bags of it full.
And Robin the Bobbin, the big-bellied Ben
I’m sure you know that very fat man.
Marshak told about not only his heroes.
Marshak tried to show the traditions of people.
He presented the world that founded himself.
And put English books on a Russian bookshelf.
Marshak and Great Britain are united, it’s clear!
The English and the Russians are friends, my dear!

Ребята и утята
Кто самый сильный?
