John Keats John Keats was an English Romantic poet. He was one of the main figures of the second generation of Romantic poets, along with Lord Byron and Percy Byshe Shelley .

His poems were not generally well received by critics during his lifetime. H is reputation grew after his death, and by the end of the 19th century, he had become one of the most beloved of all English poets.

John Keats had a significant influence on a diverse range of poets and writers. Jorge Luis Borges stated that his first encounter with Keats' poetry was the most significant literary experience of his life.

His first love to Fanny Brawn inspired him very much . The poetry of Keats is characterised by sensual imagery. This is very typical of romantic poets, as they aimed to point out extreme emotion through an emphasis on natural imagery.

His poems Today his poems and letters to his love are some of the most popular and most analysed in English literature. Some of the well-known works of Keats are “Ode to a Nightingale”, "Sleep and Poetry", and the famous sonnet "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer".

Death of poet The Poet died from tuberculosis at the age of 25 . It was in summer 1820. The following words are written on the tomb: «Here Lies One Whose Name was written in Water» .

The poetry of Keats' inspired film producers . And in 2009 the film « Bright star » was shot . The actor and actress showed the true inner world of poet and his beloved girl . I advise you to watch the film and enjoy the love story, though sad one .
