English at my school

Kurt Tucholsky said: "English is simple but very difficult language. It is consists of only foreign words, which are also incorrectly pronounced ...." I completely agree with this statement. English is a hard nut to crack. The English language is learnt by all people in different ways: in some topics it is understandable and in other topics it is not understandable.

 Many people dream to travel to different countries around the world, learn a lot of new information about them, visit interesting attractions, but for some of them there is a barrier - lack of knowledge of foreign languages. This should be an incentive to wish to learn the language. But some people do not want to study English and memorize words, they always use the Internet to translate necessary senyences. I think that such people become addicted from mobile phones and Internet. I believe that this dependence is equated with laziness because such people won't visit new countries and know something interesting, they can simply switch on any video or click the button and the phone will read them a book. This tendency begins to develop from school among modern generation. For example, an usual situation at school: there is no need to translate sentences, the student can type text in translator and it is translated automatically. He does not need to make an effort. 

   I don't like to use Internet for these purposes, I turn to the dictionary or to the teacher if I don't understand something. I think that it is not a solution of problem of unknowing of English when someone or something translates text  instead you. If a person wants to learn any foreign language, but he does nothing for it,  he will not achieve its goal.

    At school I learn English language. I like it, but its studying is given to me with some difficulties. At the lessons I really try to learn it and do my best. I participate in various school, municipal and all-Russian Olympiads and competitions, but I have not taken prize places yet. We have English lessons three times a week. We have two parallels of the ninth classes, and each class is divided into two groups. That’s why there are two teachers of English at my school. I suppose that it is very comfortable for teacher to teach only thirteen or fifteen students. Each of them can be asked by the teacher. Each student better learn the material at the lessons. At our lessons we also develop our English speech skills, listen to the recordings with the participation of a native speaker, watch video films in English of scientific-educational character. I try to visit additional English studies. I think school level of English is the initial stage of the study of English. There are additional schools for learning of English in our town. These are Benedict School, Lingvo, Lingvo Terra, Leader Land and others. I did not go there because I studied at Musical School.

After passing my final exams I will continue to learn English both  in the tenth grade and at college. I won't go into a foreign faculty, but I will be fond of improving my English: I will pass online courses of English or hire a tutor for learning spoken English. I have a dream that is to open a restaurant. I hope it will become known not only in Russia but also abroad. And, of course, in order to communicate with foreign visitors, I must study English well.

I really like the phrase of James Howell who said: “English is Dutch with French embroidery.” I understand this sentence in such way: English is a very interesting language, which was formed by the merger of several languages and has got its own original flavor. Learning English you can achieve great results. That’s why to know English is equivalent to the phrase of Charlemagne, King of the Franks, which sounds: “To have another tongue is to possess a second soul.”
