THE RSE IN THE RUSSIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
Less then a month remains to the main event for millions pupils in Russia — RSE (Russian State Exam). Certainly, the following education and career will depend on the results of this exams. However, we often see pupils that cannot deal with such stress and pressure. In my essay I'll try to determine the most obvious benefits and drawbacks of the RSE and make a conclusion. This work is based on my and people that have passed the exam experience.
The first ideas about the RSE appeared in 1997. The author of it was Vladimir Fillipov. This exam was created in order to destroy the corruption in schools and universities, provide the full honesty in checking graduates' knowledges.
In 2001 the exam was taken at first. About 30.000 pupils have passed it that year.
The RSE had become a successful experiment and our government decided to do it compulsory, as a result, in 2008 all graduates passed it in everywhere.
Personally, despite of all possible drawbacks, I find this exam like a perfect way of checking pupils' knowledges. To begin, FIPI always establish all possible topics that graduates may meet during the exam. Usually they post them before the year to exam. Moreover, the RSE is always taken in the written form. It is an enormous problem for many pupils to talk with examiners, they usually feel full unconfident and embarrassing. It goes without saying that their results will much lower than they are in reality. Last but not least, organizers are worried about equal difficulty of tests for each pupils, as a result, graduates are in the even conditions that makes workaholics passed in the Universities.
Of course, as I wrote above, the RSE is a well-structured exam, but we cannot deny its drawbacks. Pupils turned under a great pressure during their last school year. They see "RSE" everywhere. However, it is not a usual view on the following exam. Pupils are often frightened by it: teachers and examiners are used to talk "about not passing" or "extremely difficult tests".
So, should the exam be changed or replaced by a more democratic and soft exam? I'm sure that should not. A pupil will always feel worried whatever exam he or she passes. Full control do not allow graduates crib on the exam. Strict computers will no be interested in giving too high marks. Level of your readiness will determine your result.
To sum up, it is hardly impossible to create absolutely justiciable and certain exam, but the RSE is really close to it. Our government have to go on this practice for the following years.
