«MY IMPRESSIONS OF THE BOOK «JANE EYRE»

Nowadays it is difficult to imagine our life without books. Reading has always been considered one of the most useful form of activity because it is a good reason to get knowledge, distract from reality and get a lot of diverse emotions, such as tears, ecstasy,  joy, compassion, excitement and so on and so forth.

As for me, every sort of literature should develop imagination, attentiveness, logical thinking, broader our outlook. In spite of it there are books to read when your brain wants something to work at. To a thinking reader they will provide new food for reflection every time he reads them. Their influence on people’s mind is great. One of the most touching and profound books which appealed to me and aroused a lot of feelings in my heart is «Jane Eyre» by Charlotte Bronte. I have no doubt that this well-known book can answer on many our questions, force to think and empathize with heroes.

I couldn’t help reading «Jane Eyre» from cover to cover, fully plunged into its atmosphere and took described events close to heart. What struck and absorbed me was the thrilling plot, Bronte’s vivid style, honesty and the way she portrayed people. If you take to reading this masterpiece, the world of other people’s thoughts and problems will become familiar to you.

The main character of the book is a talented young orphan with a difficult life. Her strong individuality represents the greatest interest for a curious reader. As far as I’m concerned I was amazed with her willpower, moral fortitude and wisdom. Jane, thank to her abilities and mind, makes progress and reaches a lot in life. She struggles to overcome oppression and achieve equality. The character of this young woman proves that persistence and intensity of faith can change your life for the better. That is why I absolutely agree with the statement «The main source of Jane Eyre’s interest is the story of immense human endurance».

Jane’s social status in society condemns her to be a dispensable governess but she fights for what she believes in: «I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will». She makes us sympathize with her situation and admire her allegiance to principles. Her feeling of self-esteem helps her to believe in happiness after all the obstacles and hardships that she has suffered. Her master Edward Rochester falls in love with the heroine thanks to her thoughtful, modest, tender, humorous and virtuous nature. Jane’s goodness of character turned out more important for Mr. Rochester than her plain looks. As a result, after painful separation with a sweetheart Jane’s dreams come true and she finds real happiness.

Many experts in literature argue the viewpoint that Bronte have created the temper of Jane Eyre as a way of reconciling differences in her own life. There is been a lot of evidence that Charlotte Bronte also struggled to find those people who held the same views as she did, to find the right balance between earthly pleasure and moral duty, between deep emotion, sincere love and freedom. During all the novel Jane voices the writer’s radical views on religion, gender relations and social status.

To draw to the conclusion I’d like to say that Charlotte Bronte showed us the depths of psychological analysis, the insight into the human nature. It’s my firm believe that this novel has formed my values, character and become the means of my self-perfection.
