Dear Antoine de Saint-Exupery,
You are the author of "The Little Prince", and your book is amazing. First time I it read when I was ten. I remember how I liked the main story and nice illustrations. I kept drawing boxes and told everyone that there were different animals inside of them, and I took this idea from "The Little Prince".
I read it again when I got older, and I can't describe how I was fascinated by it. "The Little Prince" is the best book that I've ever read. This book became a teacher through my life. It offers a new perspective on things that I fail to even stop looking at. I started to appreciate the simple pleasures that life brings, such as my mother’s smiles or my father’s hugs.
I found many powerful messages in this novel. I always judged people by the appearance; it seemed important to me. I preferred to look on the surface but never wanted to look under it. But "The Little Prince" helped me to realize how I should appreciate people for who they are rather than by making assumptions based on their appearances. «It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye».This quote became my life quote.
Besides, "The Little Prince" gave me a great lesson about relationships. According to this book, making sacrifices is what friendship is about. The Little Prince gave water to the rose, and in return, the rose made his planet look beautiful. It is the effort you put into a relationship that makes it valuable.
My favourite phrase from the novel is what the fox said to the Prince: “You become responsible forever for what you’ve tamed” I like it because it’s true about relationships. People who we’ve tamed risk the possibility of getting hurt. We can’t let these people who trust us down. When we let others tame us, we give them weapon against us, but if you do not let yourself be tamed, you will never understand another person. You will never truly understand how to love, be loved.
I also found a good lesson about how people should deal with difficulties on the way. The little prince talks of how baobabs are a big problem on his planet. They can ruin his planet, and he has to pull up the little roots baobabs every day, so they can’t grow up in big trees and destroy the planet. The prince points how little problems become serious. I came to conclusion that I should take care of my difficulties and troubles before they stop being little and become enormous.
Many characters of this novel are wonderful. They’re reflection of many people’s bad sides nowadays. Sometimes I can identify myself with the businessman. He spends all his time counting stars and worrying about how rich he is. Many times I cared too much about my clothes and shoes, and I missed important things. “The Little Prince” showed me the ridicule of the obsession with material things
"The Little Prince" is a great novel because it is understandable for people of all ages, all cultures and religions. Moreover, when you read it again, you find new meanings, new moral. You can never finish reading this book and not see anything new in it. That's why "The Little Prince" is so valuable. I can't describe how much this novel gave me. I'm really glad that I had a chance to enjoy this masterpiece, and, in my opinion, even after hundred years this book will always find its readers who would be touched by it like I was.
I would like to thank you and to show my huge appreciation for influence that you and your work had on me.
Thank you,
Your reader
Natalie
