Эссе "The role of Russian language in a modern society"

Nowadays Russian is one of the main world languages. Moreover, it is a language of international communication on the post-Soviet territory. To start with, Russian is an official languages of many international organizations in which Russia has membership.

Over 144 million people speak Russian in our country. Besides Russia, the Russian language has the state language status in Belarus. In south-eastern regions of the Ukraine, it has been adopted as an official language is Kyrgystan. Russian belongs to a group of Slavic languages which belongs to East Slavic of Indo-Europen family.

His story started Kiev Rus. Since then it has been changed a lot of times. The first major changing was in the end of the 10 century, when Kiev Rus appeared to be under the influence of Byzantium. The biggest stagnation of Russian language was in 13 to 16 centuris because of affect of Golden Horde. The second Rise of Russian began in the 17 century during the rule of Peter The Great and continued till the 19 century. And now it called modern Russian language. That period is called Golden Age. It started from the first normalizing grammar book of Mikhail Lomonosov in 1755 and appearing the Russian Academy’s first explanatory dictionary in1783. Then Russian language was only modified by many local writers and poets. According to M. Lomonosov, in Russian language there is …the majesty of Spanish, the vivacity of French, the strength of German, the tenderness of Italian, and, besides these, the richness and the concision, so vigorous in its imagery, of the Greek and the Latin tongues.

It is known that all languages reflect different sides of life. To be great and powerful, Russian language must respond to all phenomena of life thus broaden its vocabulary. It should be mentioned that the more Russian is used in the world, the better is for the Russian policy, economy and culture. To sum up, I’d like to say if we want the Russian language to remain great and powerful in the 21st, we must pay much attention to the quality of the literary Russian language. Our government should investigate money in creating educational Russian centers in different countries. I want every one could say “Great, powerful Russian tongue, through full and free,” as Ivan Turgenev, a well-know Russian Writer, once wrote.
