Throughout the Man’s history the Earth has been home to some of the great names from the arts. Some of the world’s greatest painters, such as Velazquez, Goya, Picasso, Dali, Brullov, Malevitch, Shishkin have contributed a lot of value into the world culture.
Today there are also many major stars internationally promoting the intense cultural and creative life of people.
But how did the Art begin?
Where do artists get inspiration and motivation?
No doubt, the main artists are common people: craftsmen, folk painters, sculptures.
Our school has a museum where our pupils have been collecting different items of real masterpieces.
The name of our school museum is «We are Slavs».
The main part of the museum is Folk Arts of Russia: wood-carving, decorative painting on wood, clay toys, ceramics, porcelain and faience, lacquers, embroidery and lace, printed kerchiefs.
Russian culture associated with ethnic Russians. It has a long history and long traditions. In our school museum we show the way of life of peasants.
The main part of the room is decorated as a peasant’s log hut-izba.
Russian people are famous for their artistic handicrafts. Most of them painted wooden tableware, spoons, icons, toys. They coloured their houses to make their lives cheerful.
There are some techniques in painting: Khokhloma, Gorodets and Polkhovsky-Maidan.
The Russian Matrioshka is well known and very popular in many countries of the world. This toy is quite young: it made its first appearance in 1900. These dolls are dressed in bright sarafans and kerchiefs with a pattern of roses and forget-me-nots.
In our museum we can see the process from the beginning to the end of the production of these dolls.
Sergiyev Posad, Bogorodskoye, Khotkovo, Veliky Ustiug, Arkhangelsk region are famous for their wood-carving toys. Sometimes they have a simple shape, a natural colour of unpainted wood.
Especially popular is the «motive» toy-hens pecking grain, a bear and a peasant striking an anvil with a hammer, peasants sawing firewood.
The first artistic objects of lacquered papier- mache with decorative painting were produced at the end of the 18th century in the village of Fedoskino of Moscow province.
The lacquer crafts of Palekh, Mstera and Kholui had the beginning in early 20th century and developed «bylina motifs».
Painted metal trays are produced in the village of Zhostovo, Moscow region. We can see juicy fruit and beautiful flowers in them.
Dymkovo,a small village in Viatka had become a major centre of manufacture of the clay toy by the midnineteenth century. It is an art which has survived to this day and continues to flourish. The Dyumkovo toy is widely known outside our country. The figures, often made in a humorous vein: water-carrying girls, women of fashion, three-headed billy goats, horsemen, turkeys, bring the gay atmosphere of fairs and folk festivals.
The Gzhel district, which lies about 60 kilometers south-east of Moscow, has long been famous for its clay deposits. The main features of the local pottery craft, which harks back to very ancient times, evolved in the 16th and 17th centuries.
In our school museum we can see all stages of appearance of a real masterpiece work.
The art of Russian embroidery of our needlewomen is famous for its harmonious colour combinations, the beauty of its patterns and the variety of techniques employed: Vologda, Ryazan, Orel, Tver, Kaluga, Pavlov Posad, Lipetsk are famous for their works. We can see these masterpieces on our women in our country and abroad.
We are proud of our museum. It is alive. It develops and waits us to show new story of its live.
