The future of the Olympic Games.

Let’s imagine the year of 2256. We are on the Earth in the age of superfast computing technologies. Science has reached its height: it is an integral part of existence. Education, entertainment and hobbies - in short, everything is connected to it and depends on it. But even in such an advanced society people can   not do without sports. Sport gives the opportunity to be entertained and develop your personality seriously. Sport makes a person mentally and physically stronger. People strive to reach harmony of mind and body. The practice of sport has become much more interesting and exciting.

As many years before the Olympic Games are a very popular occasion, that draws people’s attention for many days or even weeks. The Olympic Games have saved their initial spirit, as they are not just games, but they manifest the idea of peace, cooperation and beauty of human body and mind. People of future are much sportier than their ancestors, but they realize that victory is not the main objective of life. People just try to enjoy the process of life, including sport. Not everyone can run a marathon or jump more than 2 meters but everyone can try to do his or her best. That is why larger number of athletes takes part in the Olympic competitions.

Now let’s have a look at the Olympic Games in 2256.  To begin with, the Games are provided with a fantastic well-developed infrastructure, ranging from hotels for athletes and spectators to huge stadium areas that can perform several functions.  For example, today the area serves as an ice palace, and tomorrow it is a football field or even a swimming pool. Such multifunctional spots are situated in many large cities of the world and the Games are held in many places simultaneously. Just one city is not enough because far more people want to take part in the Games. That is why all these areas host the athletes from their region and all the information about the results and records is sent to the United Games Database via Internet. As for the hotels, they are equipped with all modern conveniences and high-tech equipment including fast elevators, which take anyone from the hotel to the stadium immediately. Even if some people don’t want to leave their comfortable homes to see the Games from tribunes, they don’t lose anything. The development of TV technologies seems almost magical.  5D-TV broadcasts the Games in three-dimensional pictures for everybody to enjoy, plus you are able to smell the air of tribunes and feel the light breeze. Such technology creates the effect of virtual presence at the tribunes. Moreover, those people who have the most advanced TV sets can feel the emotions and efforts of champions, as though you are in their place! This is the most exciting part for the spectators.

Speaking of types of Olympic sports, one can’t help noticing that they are diversified. Alongside with a variety of old familiar summer and winter sports, several new sports have appeared. Some of them can seem very exotic to people of past centuries. What can a person from 2011 think about such Olympic sports as races with dolphins or elephant polo? But people of future are very environmentally aware and consider animals as equals. On the other hand, such sports as space yacht races or vacuum flying exhibit people’s breakthroughs in technologies.

To sum up, I’d like to say that I believe in wonderful and beautiful future for the Olympic Games. I hope that the Games will be the means to maintain cooperation between people of different countries and even between people and animals. The Olympic Games have great potential that is still to be seen and experienced.
