Great Britain is rich with different sights. There are London eye, Stonehendge, Trafalgar Square for example.
The London eye is one of the largest big wheels in the world, situated in Lambet's London region on the south bank of the Thames. From height of 135 meters you can see all part of London .
The Stonehendge is the construction consisting of big, vertically located stone plates, standing around and enclosed with earth strengthenings. It situated not far from the Salisbury, the city in the south of England.
Trafalgar Square is a landmark in central London enjoyed by Londoners and all visitors alike. It is a lively place often used for a wide range of activities including: special events and celebrations like the Royal Wedding, Olympics One Year to Go, St Patrick's Day and Chinese New Year; filming and photography; and rallies and demonstrations.
Great Britain is one of the biggest and highly developed countries in the world. Britain's democratic system of government is long established and well tried, and has provided a remarkable political stability. Britain's overseas relations including its membership in the European Economic Community and its links with Commonwealth countries, enable it to realize international cooperation.
But democracy wasn't formed in Great Britain, as some people think. It was formed in Athens.
The monarchy is in Great Britain. The Queen Elizabeth II is head of UK.
Great Britain is famous for his literary works. One of the most ancient works is the poem «Y Gododdin». Gododdin is the earliest surviving Welsh poem. It is a series of elegies for the men of the Gododdin, who died at a battle in Catraeth - now thought to be Catterick in Yorkshire - around the year 600. The poem is thus an account of the fighting which occurred between Saxons and Britons at the time of the Saxon invasions. One of the early consequences of that invasion was the cutting off of the kingdoms in the north from those in the southwest (one study of the poem, by Kenneth Hurlstone Jackson, is called The Gododdin: The Oldest Scottish Poem); this poem seems to report on a failed attempt to regain some of that lost ground.
In the literary trend in the UK introduced Booker prize for fiction. The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is a literary prize awarded each year for the best original full-length novel, written in the English language, by a citizen of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Republic of Ireland, or Zimbabwe. Beginning in 2014, it will consider authors from anywhere in the world, so long as their work is in English and published in the UK. The winner of the Man Booker Prize is generally assured of international renown and success; therefore, the prize is of great significance for the book trade.
Oh… Do you know that the UK is a home of the legend musical group? Of course, you are know who are they. This is Beatles! Their best-known lineup, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, became considered by many as the greatest and most influential act of the rock era.
I think, that they are great famous rock group, because they now popular around the world, although they disbanded. They are legend!
The United Kingdom has given birth to a range of major international sports including: association football, rugby (union and league), cricket, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, squash, rounders, hockey, boxing, snooker, billiards and curling.
This has meant that in the infancy of many sports, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland formed among the earliest separate governing bodies, national teams and domestic league competitions. After 1922 some sports formed separate bodies for Northern Ireland though many continue to be organised on an all-Ireland basis.
In the end I want to say that the UK is referred to as a great power and has economic, cultural, military, scientific and political influence internationally.
