My name is Kate. I am 11 years old. English language has been with me since my childhood. When I was 9 months old my parents went to America. I lived there for 3 years. At that time my mom started «to teach» me English. She read English books to me, I watched cartoons in English, people around me spoke English. Thus, even before school, I knew some English words. My vocabulary was not large (5 - 10 words), but mom says I could understand much more.

I started learning English when I was six. At first English was very difficult for me, but now it’s one of my favorite subjects. Learning foreign language is like learning to play a musical instrument – you need a lot of practice. I try to improve my English in all possible ways – I read books, watch films in English. It helps me to know the world better. As a famous Italian film-maker Federico Fellini once said: «A different language is a different vision of life». I speak English when I go travelling. You can also hear English at school and at home, you can speak it to your friends and family.
