Purpose : To check the theory of literary critic-structuralist Alfred Barkov who has offered absolutely different concept of the tragedy "Hamlet".

Tasks: to study Barkov's new approach to structuring “Hamlet”; to get acquainted with a medieval genre of literature – menippeah ; to carry out the analysis of the text: to separate prosaic and the poetic text of the tragedy; to check up assumptions of Barkov ; to draw a conclusion on justice of a hypothesis of A. Barkov .

Hypothesis: A. Barkov is mistaken, considering that the mystery sense of the tragedy by Shakespeare "Hamlet" is not solved till now.

Character-narrator states elements of the plot truthfully; Another hidden plot- real events; Main author’s plot. It often gives the reader the hint of author’s attitude to creation of this narrator. Minippeah - independent medieval genre of literature.

Main hero in menippeah is the Narrator. In “Hamlet” the main hero is not Danish prince, but his half-brother Horatio, who drowned Ophelia and who pretended to be Shakespeare, having made up a story in his favor and kept us in error for already about 4 hundred years. And Danish prince is the main hero not in Shakespeare’s tragedy, but in its expletive part.

Thirty years before the described events began, there lived three brothers: 1.The king of Norway. 2.King Fortinbras of Denmark married to Gertrude; they had a son prince Fortinbras. 3.The youngest brother Hamlet, a widower. He possessed of some land (not a kingdom, though); his son Hamlet is featured in the plot as Horatio. Hamlet staked his lands against the whole kingdom of Denmark by proposing his brother Fortinbras a fight, the result of which was to determine who of the two would rule Denmark. King Fortinbras accepted the bid and was killed by his brother Hamlet.
