LEGEND
This romantic story took place in a usual forest. It is absolutely true and that is why became a symbol of love.
There was a nice round pond deep in the forest surrounded by rare trees. Among them was a young oak. It happened so that he grew in some distance from his other relatives. He heard other trees chatting all days long but couldn’t hear what it was about. He tried to talk to bugs, flies or ants crawling around or climbing him but they didn’t understand the language of trees. He felt so lonely.
But one spring morning the oak saw some weak plant trying to get out through dry leaves. First he thought it was some flower, but time went on and the plant grew into a baby birch. Of course, a birch is not an oak but our oak was so happy to have any tree nearby to talk to. The birch grew taller and taller day by day and became a nice tree with white barque and tender green leaves. The oak told her about the forest, its animals and birds, about long and frosty winters and they talked and talked. They became very close friends and couldn’t imagine their life without each other.
A few years have passed, the oak grew into a strong and high tree and the birch – into a young beauty. But one summer night a rainstorm burst out. The wind roared and tore tree branches and leaves, the pond turned into a sea with huge waves. It was a real disaster. The birch was very scared, she had never seen anything like that before. But the oak was nearby and tried to comfort her. Suddenly the birch cried out: ‘Oh, no! The wind is pulling me out! My roots are too weak! I am dying…’ And she began to nod.
The oak was at a loss. How could he help his friend? He suddenly understood that he loved the birch, that the birch was the love of his whole life. ‘If she dies, I will die too’, he thought.
The wind blew again and pulled a bit of her roots out of the ground but be luck the birch fell onto the oak. He saved her from further falling. The rainstorm stopped soon but the two trees stayed like that for the rest of their life. The oak is holding her love, and she is happy in his hugs. True love will last forever. If you don’t believe, look at this picture.
