Countryside: the breaking of the stereotypes

Hello!

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Arina Semenova.

I’m 17 years old and this year I have to pass exams.

I don’t find it a very big problem – during 10 years at school I have been trying to learn as much as I can. But in spite of it I had to learn the whole summer, because my knowledge of mathematics wasn’t very good. That’s why I couldn’t visit seaside with my friends in June, but I visited my grandma in the end of August.

My grandma lives in the countryside not far from Novokubansk – her village is about 30 km far from the center of our town. 

What I can say about holidays in the countryside?

Oh, it was really fantastic!

I’ve never imagined that my holidays in the countryside would be so exciting!

The habitants of this village were so hospitable! I’ve met so many kind and friendly people! They tried to help me in any situation. Sometimes we - people living in the towns or in the cities – think that the habitants of different villages are rude and stupid. This summer I’ve understood – it’s our big delusion. My grandma’s neighbors were very neat and polite people. Their daughter (her name is Irina) is 16. She’s very smart and pretty girl. We made friends and walked together everywhere.

Also in grandma’s village I’ve known many interesting superstitions and beliefs. Now I know what I should do if I see a bad dream or a black cat crossing my way. Of course, I understand – it’s only superstition, but…

While I was walking with Irina I’ve seen many beautiful flowers and trees. I’ve gone to the real forest and even visited the old railway. It was so unusual – to take photos in the desolate places. Sometimes I’ve felt myself like a stalker from the book written by Strugatskie.

…A few months ago I imagined countryside as a very boring place. I thought that there weren’t any places there the youths would have rest and relax. This summer trip to my grandma’s village showed me that I was so wrong! And now if I get a topic “Living in the city or in the countryside” surely that I’ll choose the second variant!

I hope next holidays I’ll visit my grandma again.

Of course, I’ll visit her with my friends!
